Best place in Sarasota…guaranteed!. As a picky eater, I always loved fried foods and junk, but this restaurant changed my habits completely. The first time I’ve been there, it was very good. Their pasta is great combined with the breaded veal. Their service is great, and I definitely recommend the pork belly. It may have an odd name, but it is like heaven inside meat. The owner is a good friend of my family and I recommend this restaurant to people seeking a great taste of Italy.
I have lived in Sarasota for over 30 years and nothing compares to Andrea’s. His cuisine is so authentic. So fresh. He truly sits in a league of his own. His talent is a hidden treasure here in Sarasota. If you haven’t eaten at Andrea’s, you haven’t had the best meal of your life!
Upscale Italian in an Intimate Atmosphere. Andrea has brought the Piedmont region of Northern Italy toSarasota in an intimate 10 table charming spot.Beautifully, but simply appointed, once inside you would never know you are in a strip center across the street from the mall. You could easily be in Italy. The experience starts with an amuse bouche…..tonight, deep fried rice balls. Crispy on the outside and moist and tender inside. The homemade Italian bread is accompanied by hummus, caponata, and herbed butter. The menu choices are varied, with many nightly specials. My wife had a very creative and delicious beef carpachio three ways. One with truffles and parmagean, one with avacado and sprouts, and the third with aragula and a mustard aioli. The presentations are fabulous. I started with the pork belly………melts in your mouth. Did not care for it served over beans, but it was a nice presentation. For the main, my wife had the veal milanese. Perfectly prepared, and topped with the freshest arugula and tomatoes. I understand Andrea goes to Cortez for fresh fish daily, and to Plant City daily for the fruits and vegetables. My main was the paparadelli with short ribs. cut with a fork tender, and in a delicious sauce. You can tell the pasta was prepared fresh. Our sicilian server, Angelo did a great job all around. The whole experience was great and professional.Prior to going to Andrea, we thought Bologna was the best high-end Italian restaurant in Sarasota. Both are top notch, both special in their own regional specialties, and both ensure the freshest ingredients prepared perfectly, and presented creatively.
Great Meal & Great Service. Ate here on 4/19/2012 and had a great meal. Very welcoming with great service by top notch wait staff. We’ve eaten here several times before and have never been disappointed. This time we had a stone crab appetizer and a grilled octopus appetizer – both were very good. Can’t go wrong with the maccheroni with ricotta salata. Wine list is extensive and loaded with great options. It’s a small restaurant that really seems to care about the dining experience.
Absolutely one of the top 10 restaurants. We had dinner with another couple last night and had one of the most satisfying gourmet dinners ever.I would recommend this to anyone looking for an evening.to remember. We had appetizers that were different and delicious:Polenta Concia Polenta with sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes and Fontina Cheese. I would reorder this as an entree, it was so delicious.Three of us ordered the Ravioli of the dayNever have i tasted such a fine thin tasting ravioli. This definitely comes from the Italian flour Andrea uses. I never thought you could express a description as a gourmet ravioli, but now I have to tell you it is different then any ravioli I have ever tasted.the other meal ordered was a Lamb shank. OUR FRIEND LOVED IT!!Desserts and coffee topped the eveningOur friend ordered a cappuccino and the waiter said this is prepared not by machine. The service was exceptionalI am writing this review to say I read the negative review and called my friend. He said he and his friends have never had a disappointing meal or service. My wife and I are now believers 100%.We will make sure every time we return to Florida we will visit this great restaurant.P.S. We dine regularly in New York at some of the finest restaurants. We asked for business cards to pass Andrea’s name on to many of our friends
Will never go again. We were there very early on New Year’s Eve. The food was expensive but ordinary. The waiter rushed us through the meal and then lost our credit card at the end. No apologies (except from the owner). We had to cancel our credit card so it ended up being a very expensive hassle.
Authentic Italian. After taking a tip to Italy recently and eating at a lot of great Italian food in big cities across America Andrea’s ranks up there with the best Italian I have every had. The food was fantastic, we had the tasting menu and it was a like taking a trip back to Italy. The risotto was rich and creamy and very creative, the veal osso buco was tender and the marrow was delectable, the gnocchi were like little clouds and we also had sweetbreads which are personal favorite. Those were just the highlights, everything was delicious. The service was friendly and attentive and fun to talk with. And as an unexpected treat, Andrea himself came out of the kitchen and explained each course. We will be going back for sure, there is no doubt that if you are looking for great authentic Italian food this is the place for you.
