Wonderful atmosphere, unique and tasty dishes from around the globe, and great service combined to make our experience one worth writing about. I am a new Sarasotan and a new fan of the Bijou!
Used to work there years ago. Food was fantastic, friendly people, and most important clean!!! i recommend there duck there lamb is probably the best in town weather it the shank or the rack
Disappointed. First visit a year ago, great food and service. Second visit, very disappointing. The lamb shank, a signature dish, was bland. I’m a pretty good cook and I think I could have done better. The trio of three soups was good, but the crab bisque is so 1970’s. Waitress was friendly, but new and not up to par. Stuck off in one of the side rooms. I felt bad since my mom was treating my husband and I for our December birthdays. On a positive note, he loved his meal. But I think this place is living off it’s past reputation, proximity to Opera House and really for a much older crowd who maybe are not so discerning. Too many good spots in Sarasota to waste time on a place not top shelf, but charging as if. Main dining room is very pretty, if you get to sit in it. We arrived early and had to wait in the bar which really isn’t set up well for this purpose. Bartender efficient, but not friendly.
Excellent lunch. I was one of a group of six who visited the Bijou Caf for lunch. The menu included some interesting items. I had a Caesar Salad which was nothing spectacular but the server did ask if I wanted anchovies, a nice attention to detail. My main course was Chicken Paillard, and it was something much closer to spectacular. The sauce was flavorful and the bed of mixed vegetables and spinach very good. Everyone else at our table said they enjoyed their food, there was not a single complaint in the group. According to one the Grouper special was really very good. We appeared with a group of six with no reservations and were greeted warmly, seated within minutes, and well taken care of. Little complimentary chocolates at the end of the meal were a nice surprise and end to an enjoyable lunch.
Fabulous restaurant. The best in downtown Sarasota. Try the duck and Lamb chops. Both excellent choices. Professional wait staff.
Good food, service ok, atmosphere and overall vibe is dated. Needs refreshing and/or a little energy. Feels like a retirement home. Steak and fresh Halibut are very tasty. 7 of 10 scale.
Terribly overrated spot with poor, and in some cases surly service. Food is ordinary at best and overpriced to boot. Room is nice and tables well-spaced but the poorly trained makes the experience less than optimum.
