Best Italian for us. My wife and I have been to this restaurant over 200 times in the past year alone! The chef, Stefano makes the finest sea food pasta we’ve ever had. The chicken tricolor is our favorite salad with chicken that is never dried out as is common elsewhere. Ravioli specials are always a treat and service is very friendly and prompt. Eggplant parmigiana is another favorite and the menu is constantly updated. . In that number of visits we have not once experienced a disappointment. The chef in our opinion is a real treasure, ask him for your favorite Italian dishes. For desert you will not find a better chocolate layer cake. We’ve essentially abandoned other restaurants because of the casual and yet superb food in this unusual place.

As close as you can get –. The little place is about as close as you’ll get to an authentic little Italian bistro here in SRQ. I just literally flew in from spending a month over in Italy and am already having withdrawals in regard to the great food served over there. So… naturally I’m thinking of lunch or dinner downtown today (or tomorrow) at Cafe Epicure. Never have had a bad meal here in my nine years in SRQ. The Chicken Milanese and Tropicali Salad is my go-to order. The pasta dishes are do die for. So authentic and aways warm and tasty. Pizza’s are just like the one’s in Florence!! Great! And yes, I’ll agree, the service has become ruder and ruder over the years. Not sure why–I thought the economy was in a slump and folks had learned that we, as consumers, don’t have short term memory loss when it comes to where to give our dollars away. But, I’ll head down there anyway– maybe, just maybe… that scary looking manager that NEVER smiles might have the day off today. Ha! Good food here, though. Ya can’t go wrong in coming here if coming for the good food. 🙂

I took my fiance and her cousin here for dinner, she ordered seafood plate I ordered the mazcalzone and her cousin ordered the calzone. I have eaten a lot of Italian food in my 25 years on this earth and this by far was a disgrace the calzones had barely any meat in them once you cut in to them the deflated heavily meaning the cook did not crisp the crust enough. And the sauce tasted like it was old or from a can. As for my fiances seafood the food was tasteless the only flavor from it was when my fiance added some lemon juice. The prices were not too bad at approximately $13 – $15 / per person but at that price one would expect flavor and proper toppings I would highly recommend not going here until they fix the cooking issues they have and redesign the menu. I am sure someone from this establishment may argue this but this is an honest opinion of a patron of this establishment. I hope this will help people before handing out money for sub-par substance

Lunch was good. I hesitate rating this restaurant after enjoying just lunch. I understand it is a happening place at night and the menu is loaded with great sounding Italian dishes. While these items are also available for lunch, for me it looked a bit pricy and I would suspect more good food than I could handle for lunch. They also have pizzas and a list of reasonably priced (for lunch) sandwiches. I opted for one of the specials they had today, a Panini with Prosciutto, Mozzarella, Tomato, Mayo and Lettuce. It was flavorful, a nice size that was not too big and not too small, and arrived without much wait. All in all it was a good sandwich. The restaurant was busy but not packed and we were seated right away. Service was fine throughout the meal. We skipped getting gelato, our loss.

Feels like Europe. I have been here a couple times and first of all, you cannot beat the atmosphere or location (especially if you get a table outside). I found the food to be very tasty and the menu contains Italian dishes not found on most Italian menu’s in the States such as the Roman speciality, bucatini all’amatriciana. It is not the best food in Sarasota but it is very good an pretty authentic. The service is very good, they are pleasant and don’t rush you. You cannot come here without trying one of their many flavors of gelato.
