Love the Coffee/Carousel. My husband & I have breakfast at this wonderful little diner at lease three times a week. The food is always good; the ice-tea is fresh. I’ve had lunch there as well. We like the people who go there (someone said they/we are old farts), but that is untrue. Everyone is friendly. My husband has never complained about the coffee. Sometimes it’s hard to get a seat (during the high season) due to its popularity.
Coffee sux. Bad coffee & the water has a strong chlorine taste and condescending old farts who eat there, saying bad things about young people! I went with my son and the old farts kept giving my son dirty looks, like he didn’t belong there! The waitress was not very friendly either. Bad experience!
Great Breakfast & Lunch. I eat here regulalry. The food is almost all ‘home-style’. The brekfast is almost impossible to beat, particularly when you consider the price – their breakfast specials with 2 eggs, toast, grits or potatoes & coffee is currently $3.25 (I disagree with some other reviewers — who apparently don’t care for their blend, I find it perfectly acceptable). They also have breakfast specials each day, mostly right around five bucks w/tax – One special that shows up most weeks that I like a lot is 2 eggs, pancakes & sausage links. Their lunches go the sandwich soup and burger route, plus on or two daily specials. The bake their own desserts – they are terrific and a bargain — most $2.00 a serving. The fresh fruit (particularly Strawberry) and Key Lime pies are awesome. For the prices, I give it 5 spoons, LOL
Open for decades and it differently shows! The cleanliness of this establishment is highly questionable.
A locals place. The place has been open for decades. This is a true locals place where the servers know the names and likely the orders of most of the regulars. My arrival today was a little later than the crack of dawn and it was a Tuesday, typically a little slower than other days.Im not a regular but I have stopped in a few times over the years. Until this visit I would have described it as a place with small portions at a small price. Today I ordered an omelet, and while the price was still small, the serving size wasnt so small. Im not talking gigantic but my Ham & Cheese Omelet with some potatoes and toast was a fine breakfast.Service was attentive and the food prepared and delivered within a few minutes. The place has several tables and several places along a couple of counters. I got the distinct impression from overhearing conversations it can get pretty busy, especially when they first open. This is a diner experience in downtown Sarasota. How cool is that?
Best Breakfast in Town. Everything is delicious – better than the Ritz. Try the omelets; you will love them. Something for everyone and the coffee is great. A family run restaurant with a family atmosphere.
