Exceptional Italian Food Downtown. OK, I’ll admit that I seek out the small Italian restaurants that are usually located in a strip mall, or in this case a small downtown store front. I have found that these places almost always have the best food, and Giuseppes’s is one more proof of that. This place can be easily missed, so make sure you enter the address in the GPS to find it. Once there, you will be greeted by a friendly wait staff. I ordered the veal Marsala, which was as good if not better than any that I have had anywhere. They have a little different take on the Marsala sauce, which is very tasty. My wife order the Salmon which was smothered in a tomato based sauce and served over spagetti noodles. A note here, my wife is not really a pasta person, so to see here eat all the spagetti, was a first. The sauce was that good, and the salmon was cooked to perfection. Don’t miss this place if you are vacationing in that area, as we were. It is worth the drive in from Siesta Key for this great food.

When Giuseppe’s was Novastar Cafe. I ate an early dinner a month or two ago, when the name of this restaurant was Nova Star Cafe. I wonder what else might have changed other than the name? I went by myself for dinner, around 5 pm on a week night. By the way, if you are eating dinner at an authentic European restaurant, don’t expect the food to be served as quickly as it is served in regular American restaurants. My experience was excellent. There was only one other table of diners in addition to the staff who congregated in the corner where the bar is. Everyone was speaking Italian!… including a young boy who the adults were fawning over. It was easy to imagine myself in Italy. My server spoke English well, with an Italian accent (I think). She was charming. She was at my table when I needed something, and was otherwise away. I had a house salad and lasagna with Bchamel sauce, which was explained to my by my waitress. There was no hurry; no rush. Perhaps my experience would not have been so great had the restaurant been filled, but on that evening it was excellent!
Giuseppe’s Ristorante in Sarasota is Horrible!. Avoid eating at Giuseppe’s Ristorante on Main street in Sarasota! This place was horrible, it took an hour for us to get our food. Everyone in our group only ordered simple things too, salads, soups, pastas, (I had to wait an hour for a chicken caesar salad!) The waiter never checked on us until after we started complaining, and never came by to see about refills on our drinks. Over all it was an atrocious experiences.
