Upscale and pleasant. Apparently Libby’s has gone through a change in the last year or so. The last time I went in 2012 the food was average, pricey with very small portions. Friends invited us for dinner in January and we were very pleasantly surprised. It seems it is under new management and the result is a really good menu with food to match. This is a great location with spacious dining and a nice bar area. The evening was comfortable so we opted for outside dining. Very pleasant. The servers were nice and accommodating. It was such a change that we decided to try a Valentines dinner which turned out to be a hit. The restaurant was packed but had a nice happy vibe and the service was efficient. We enjoyed a lovely romantic dinner. Happy to see the change!
Libby’s. Wonderful food and attentive service; great cocktails with a pleasant atmosphere
Great spot for lunch. We’ve eaten lunch & dinner here several times. All good meals. We like it best for lunch for some reason. Portions are too big and we don’t like to eat big dinners in the hot weather so it just seems easier for us to manage our meal at lunch time. Food is very good, service is good too. Fun place to eat/drink.
Karenbike. We’ve been to Libby’s several times for drinks during happy hour. It is a big, friendly, busy place in the Southside Village. We made reservations for 6:30 for my husband’s birthday and they had a great table right in the front of the restaurant with the doors pulled back. We both had gin martinis (a favorite) and I had the crab bisque and shepherd pie fritters. My husband had the meatloaf special. I managed to spill my drink and they had to change the tablecloth and bring me a new drink. There were 2 other birthdays the same night–all by the window. Service was good but it is always busy and feeling a little rushed here.
A nice dinner. The first thing I noticed as soon as I walked in was the noise. It only took a minute to notice the second thing, although a large place they have packed in as many tables as possible, allowing little space for moving around. It was a busy night, Valentines Day, and although we arrived early before it filled up, it filled up.Once settled at a table and adjusting to the noise, it was a nice dinner. I went with the Caesar Salad and Rigatoni Carbonada. The salad was good-sized and came with white anchovies, setting it apart from your usual salad. Still, it was fine but not outstanding. The rigatoni was also fine. Setting it apart was a crispy poached egg, which I personally found fascinating. Just my uncultured self I suppose, I never saw that before. Better if it was well-seasoned so it would not only be visually interesting but would also taste special too. As far as the rest of the dish went the tomatoes had a nice strong flavor, the bacon was a slice of bacon instead of something chopped up and blended in the dish, and everything else was fine. It was a good dish and a nice dinner.Service was fine, our server pleasant as she answered several questions my wife had about menu items. She did a good job and checked back to make sure all was well.
Loud and inconsistent. We had heard several favorable things about Libbys and our visit confirmed a broad menu and a classy clientele. In addition, our servers were very patient and accommodating. Unfortunately the noise level in the restaurant was too high to be able to carry on a reasonable conversation. As to the food, we found the items we had to be extremely inconsistent. The Kobe meatloaf was OK but other items seemed tasteless. Prices were very reasonable.
