A Sarasota institution. Main Bar has been selling sandwiches for over 50 years, started by a couple of circus performers. Even today along the wall are old circus themed black and white photos. Pretty neat.I stopped in today, it has been much too long since my last visit. It was lunchtime and busy but the way they have seating they can handle lots of small groups. I almost had their famous Italian but opted instead for a Reuben. It was very good with plenty of flavor, I just wished it was a little larger. The scoup of potato salad that came with it was ok.Service was friendly, efficient, and fine.
And the Deli quest continues. Deli’s….there are few things better when it comes to food. This one seems to have been plucked out of New York and dropped right in the middle of the Gulf Coast.I went with the recommended sandwich…..THE AZTEC Our thinly sliced roastbeef, with provolone cheese and jalapeno dressing served on a kaiser roll topped with tomatoes, lettuce & onions…… Don’t skip the Jalapeno Dressing it makes the sandwich.The inside is authentic as any deli you will find anywhere….. worth the stop. fricksworld.blogspot.com
Love the Main Bar. The Main Bar is my oldest son’s favorite sandwich shop. He has been eating the Italian his entire life. For his 35th birthday I wanted to send him a couple and let him know how special he is. Thanks to Chip (the owner) and his staff it was a complete success!! The sandwiches were overnighted from Sarasota to Saratoga Springs NY (side note: The USPS has the best price 39.95 for next day by noon delivery). There is a great picture… so.. if you are missing excellent Italians they can be overnighted!!! Thank you again Chip and the staff of the Main Bar!!! Terri
I love this place! I ate subs from here back in the 80’s and 90’s and they were great. I moved away and I came back this year and they taste exactly the same! Wonderful people and food!
Great atmosphere. Attentive but not obtrusive service. Friendly staff. The Famous Italian is a winner.
Always the best lunch!. We eat here alot cause we walk from work. It’s always just great!
