Best Bar B Q ever!. Meeds tender and succulent, you can get your choice of many different sides in many different ways to meet 3 different barbecue sauces, that makes this the best barbecue Sarasota!
If you want real barbecue, this is NOT the place to go. I had a platter of pulled pork, brisket and hot link – there was no smoke ring or smoke flavor on anything. It was as if it was just slow cooked in the oven wrapped in foil. The hot link was hard and dry – absolutely horrible. We sat next to another first timer who is a local and he said Sonny’s was much better. This gets a big two thumbs down.
Southern flare. Sarasota’s BBQ scene is very lacking and Nancy’s Bar-B-Q fills in the gap nicely. Cool location and they are the gateway to fabulous Burns Court area.
Nancy is the real bbq thing!!. I entered downtown Sarasota and wondered how an authentic barbecue restaurant could be located in all that concrete majesty. It is and it is the real deal. They opened at 1130 located in an oasis of green with a great working tractor in front. I decided to try a combo plate with pulled pork and chicken with cornbread, greens and beans. I sat down and spent an hour talking to Nancy and her great staff about their love, bbq. The pork was smoked with oak wood creating a wonderful bark. The chicken was pulled with some good flavor edges. Both work well with Nancy’s spicy and sweet sauces. The greens are cooked with some bacon, cut coarsely, and flavored traditionally. You need to add a little hot sauce and vinegar to make those greens pop. The beans are to kill for…but I was too busy eating. The corn bread is just right and you should have a hot Texas sausage for dessert. Don’t forget the sweet tea.

My fiance ordered the burnt ends brisket sandwich and I got the pulled chicken. His smelled so good I had to pickk a piece off his try while he was paying. Delicious! My pulled chicken was nothing sspecial, until I put the sweet sauce on it…yummy! You get 2 sides with your sandwich, we had collards, mac n cheese, baked beans, and the mashed sweet potatoes. All good. We paid 20 bucks total for an excellent lunch. Definately recommend.
