I was really excited when they opened here in Sarasota. The restaurant needs a little work done but the food is amazing. Good service and the price is really fair. I try to go and eat there at least once a month
Something different. Both the cuisine and the method of eating were pretty new to me. It did remind me of Indian food, eaten family style. Our visit started by admiring their colorful palm trees in the parking lot followed by a very friendly greeting when we stepped inside. Only opened a couple of months, and technically still under a soft open, it is still becoming known in the area so was not very busy tonight. We decided on their Queens Eight Platter, a sampler platter served family style. It provided a good variety of items, a Chicken and Egg item in the center that was their national dish, surrounded by several other items of cabbage, beef, chickpeas, potatoes, and more.Eating was fun. They have a spongy bread called Injera, provided in rolls, where you tear off pieces and use it to pinch food from the platter and eat it and the bread. After a couple of rolls I realized I was getting too much bread vs other food, and switched to using a fork. I will concede there must be an entire country that could do this better than I.I must admit this cuisine is not popular with me but I can enjoy it infrequently, it is something interesting and different. After reading the Gone Downhill review I did want to add my review was for this Sarasota location and the two photos were of the food we enjoyed that night.
