  Mixed grill so far…. Like others, I’ve had mixed experiences at Roast–last time the touted grouper sliders were fishy tasting and a big disappointment (so much so that I called later; they defended the freshness of their fish). The servers are friendly and the place is worth trying again.

  Great food, Horrible service.. The food at this establishment is outstanding. However, the one time I chose to dine there was on a busy Friday night. Our order was somehow lost and it was a few hours before our food was brought to the table. The grouper fish was under cooked and the steak was so rare it was cold in the middle. After complaining and having the meal cooked longer the food was simply awesome. I am not sure if other people have had this type of service there or not. I may try it again because the food was so good.Mike

  Everything incredibly Flavorful!!. I rarely critique restaurants but in this case I’m compelled as a result of outstanding fare. I’m a local restaurateur & not quick to praise my peers unless there is a stand out. Let me tell you; this place stands out! Although the decor is very cozy & neatly decorated, you must come for the food. My brother and I arrived the other night at around 7p and the place was full. Being a new restaurant I anticipated some hiccups with maybe timely execution or a frazzled server. They didn’t miss a beat! We started with the ahi tuna & burrata crostini. I have never in this state had tuna this delicious! The vibrant red color & presentation was beautiful, but the taste; It was as tender as gelatin, perfectly seasoned with exquisite presentation. The burrata crostini was perfect. I had tried an attempt of this creation at another new restaurant around the block and there wasn’t a comparison. Crostini with any topping cannot be pre-prepped & slopped on a plate. Roast’s crostini was just grilled, topped with that creamy burrata & immediately brought to the table. You bite into fluffy luscious mozzarella piercing through to perfectly grilled crusty sliced baguette bread. This is the difference between the soggy mess I received at the million dollar mess around the corner. For dinner I had the duck and my brother the strip. At this moment conversation had ceased. At first bite my eyes rolled to back of my head & avariciously devoured my dish. So tender, so tasty I did not get a chance to get a review of the steak but from the look of it, my brother would have to concur with my disposition. I wanted to speak to a superior to express my delight and like he read my mind, a well dressed manager with with a attentive yet calm demeanor asked is everything Okay? You can guess my sentiment. He conveyed to me that the owner/chef meticulously oversees every detail of this place, especially the food. I have to say living in the Sarasota area for about 20 years, it was one of the best I’ve had on this coast or anywhere. BTW, I do not dismay price if everything is fantastic but in this case the prices were so reasonable I’m afraid I will not get a seat next time we visit!
