I was with a big BD party group of 13. At first I was impressed with the atmosphere. Our table was outdoor. My friend made reservation 2 days in advance. She told that they accepted our party reservation without any mention of being separated into 2 tables. After we arrived and found out that they arranged 1 big table of 12 seats, which mean that 1 person had to sit at another table. We were politely ask the server to just add 1 seat, which we could squeeze together. Actually, the young server was so kind and very polite but when the blond hair manger came, the mood was changed. She was rude and didn’t care. If the restaurant can’t handle the big group why accepted the reservation. We were very disappointed, then we left and had a happy ending at another nice restaurant. I feel bad for the owner of the Social Eatery & Bar to have this rude, unkind with no service mind as your manager. I don’t think I will be eating there or even recommend your restaurant to others as long as you still have this lady as a manager.
Overall atmosphere is modern chic and stylish – however the waiting was sub par and we actually found a nail clipping in our pasta. It was disgusting. This was our second time dining and we will never come back.. it’s too bad because I loved the atmosphere.
Being a longtime food blogger and lifelong descendant of Sicilian immigrants, I can say that Social has the best Italian menu that I’ve seen in years. Local, house made, and creative, along with excellent service, makes me rave about this Downtown Sarasota eatery. @ safoodblog.com
Passing by…. We left the theater next store and wandered over to this lovely restaurant for dessert. Staff was so friendly and the atmosphere was romantic. We sat outside and had tiramisu and chocolate sponge cake. Both were to die for! We would definitely come back again.
My husband and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary last night at Social and it was fantastic! The restaurant is beautifully decorated with cool vintage touches. Our waitress Lily was sweet, knew the menu and was attentive. Our meal…excellent! The eggplant and lentil soup was amazing, but the wheat pumpkin ravioli will keep us coming back. It was a perfect evening.
OK experience. Food disappointing, service willing but not able, atmosphere modern but a little too cool. Bar seems very active.
Drink does not come in cooper mug as menu advertises, food was just ok, awful awful awful service!
