I have super mixed feelings about this place. The wife had booked a table for two a month in advance to celebrate my birthday. We arrived 10 minutes late and was told that our table has been taken. I’m not sure why the restaurant didn’t call us to let us know, that’s just bad service and lack of respect for the customer. We were then asked to wait for a table which took forty-f***ing-five minutes! The host had a little bad attitude but in the end offered us free drinks which we graciously accepted. By the time we got seated it was around 8:45pm, so we were starving. During our wait we had ample time to look throughout th the menu and placed our order immediately. I think the host at the entrance saw how annoyed my pregnant wife was, so he ordered us two complimentary appetizers. When our main order arrived we were really impressed. The sushi was really good and the quality of the fish tasted so fresh. The portions were perfect and the rice was cooked well. We had stuffed our faces but left some room for dessert, which was also complimentary and extremely delicious! I think it was fried cheese cake, and i hate cheese cake with all my heart and soul. The vibe of the restaurant is great, there was a live guitarist doing his thing and the place was lively with chatter. The waitress was amazing and really tended to our needs. Over all, the bad first impression contributed negatively to the experience however, the food was amazing and I would like to give them another try.

How can this place support an abuser of puppies? I tried to take my family there and was astounded to learn from my son that they support and have the most notorious animal abuser in Sarasota as their main waiter. Steven Thompson tried to kill a puppy. Google search it. This restaurant supports him.Mugshot of their waiter. Very horrifying for families.

I really want to give tsunami 4 stars based on the food, but I’ve eaten here twice and both times the service has been sub-par. The sushi is excellent and I always love a BYOB, but I just can’t figure out why it’s so difficult for the servers to pay attention to their tables.

Told us we couldn’t order anymore sushi at 9:40, which was frustrating considering we arrived at 8:45 and had to wait quite a while before ordering. May not be back after all.24 Mar, 2015Scallops could’ve been fresher. And music was terrible. Sushi fish was fresh and the guys who made it were stellar and entertaining. Don’t want to listen to Britney Spears (whole album) while eating dinner. May be back

We tried Tsunami for Sunday lunch. Their lunch menu is available on the weekend and most options come with ginger salad and choice of soup either clear mushroom or miso. Both were good. The rolls we had were good and nice sized. We especially liked the tsunami roll. The chocolate souffl tower was amazing.
