In Sarasota Fl I have eaten at every single place i think… And man is this stuff is BAD!! I cook better then they do! I hate to say it but the mall has better food! My crab rangoon tasted like old wantons and the filling?????? Where?? Under cooked crab rangoon and the sweat and sour pork the tempura was dough and white didnt even have a crisp or golden color! Everything was just BLAH! AGAIN DISAPOINTED!! Any cantonese People out there please if you know how to cook open a new resturuant! I am not from here originally BUT I CAN TELL YOU RIGHT KNOW UNLESS YOU WANT TO EAT AT DERUMAS OR RUTH CHRIS YOUR NOT…NOT GETTING GOOD FOOD!!! Chinese and mexican food DOES NOT EXIST HERE!! 7/18/12 Felt like chinese food tonight. Im visiting with family in Sarasota. What a dissappointment. The food at Wen’s was not a winner. Not only did the food look dreary it tasted dreary as well. LAME excuse for chinese food. I ordered shrimp and broccoli from their dinner special. It was suppose to to come with fried rice theirs looked more like processed dog food, pork lomein looked and tasted more like day old chicken. I didnt get the egg roll they said I would get or what they said was in bag. Im afraid to eat the wonton soup. I consider myself a foodie and have eaten in some of the best restaurants… hole in the walls etc. Im not happy I spent fifteen bucks in this place. I would not eat the food if it were free though I may feed it to my worst enemy. Dont waste your money…YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. There are better chinese restaurants and Wens is not it!Dissatisfied patron!
Just VILE. Everything we got here – soup, appetizer, and entree – tasted awful. From the flavorless lumps of meat in the steamed dumplings to the greasy and flavorless won-ton soup to our chicken with veggies, which tasted somewhat like FISH (and I do not like fish!), everything was really awful. About the only thing either my daughter or I could eat was the fried noodles that go with the soup – something we both usually skip. Will not be visiting again.
Stay away from Uncle Wen’s China Express in Sarasota. Burnt taste in Won ton soup, awful rice-overcooked. Not fresh- and to top it off, old a$$ stale fortune cookie! Not cool!! Lunch special may be better, dinner sucked!
I order some take out last night form Uncle Wens and was ver impressed. The dimmer portions are very large witch I dig. The prices are very reasonable. The staff, very nice. I will be getting my take out fron my boy Uncle Wen from now on.
Great Chinese Takeout!. Its not a big restaurant but the food is great! Not sure what the other reviewer is talking about, maybe they eat out in San Francisco China Town, but for Sarasota this is awesome chinese takeout! I go about once a week now.
