I am not from Lake Mary but one of our satellite office is located there. I went to Chengs about two years ago and loved the food. So I was really excited to come back to Lake Mary so I can eat there again. What a huge disappointment, most of the food items were ice cold like they have just been taken out of the fridge. I tried to converse and explain this to the server, but she did not speak any English. Food tasted horrible, plates and cutlery were dirty, TV volume was way too loud for a restaurant setting. When I went back to my office and shared my experience, they all said they stopped eating at Chengs while back because of change in ownership and everything going down hill ever since then. On the bright side, buffet was only $7.45, I felt bad for the overworked server, so I still left a 20% tip for her. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED AND WILL NEVER VISIT AGAIN.

Dirty, run down, inedible, non-English.. Terrible food, service, and conditions are now available at Chengs Chinese Restaurant. We have been going there for many years. The food has been deteriorating the past few times we have been there. Each time my wife had to explain that she wants sliced chicken instead of chicken scraps in her Chicken and Broccoli. This time they did not even get that right. It was so inedible, she could not finish. My lemon chicken was overcooked, hard, and tough. I also could not finish it. I had a hard time swallowing the food. I kept waiting for it to go down. Finally, I had to go to the restroom to vomit my meal. The rest room was disgustingly dirty and run down. The rest of the place has deteriorated as well. We expressed all these complaints to the server. She did not understand what we were saying. She went to the manager, and came back after a while. She said they could not discount the cost of the meal or replace it. We requested the manager come to us. All the manager did was argue with us, and expressed how she does not understand what we are saying. They do not appear to understand English, and are devoid of customer service skills. They had never even visited us at the table to ask how things were.We did not ask to bring the food home. We usually do not leave food at a restaurant. In fact, I am very tolerant of food, and usually eat all that is served to me. I find it a sin to waste food. The food there used to be good. I could not find my credit card after I paid the check. I did not see it on the table, my pocket, or the payment folder. We plan never to go there again. Many customers have reported roaches in their food. This shopping center has a continuing issue with roof leaks, mice, and roaches.11 Nov, 2010Excellent food, value, and service.

Great entrees, poor fried rice. Came here on a whim after realizing that I had never been here, and I live nearby. Walked in for dinner and was the only table. I came with three adults, one teen, and two children. Our bill was about $85. Not too bad for six people, but a little high for a local chinese joint that seems to subsist on take out.I chose the Peking Duck because it was reasonably priced at $14. I have never had duck that I liked, but wanted to try again. I LOVED IT! It was like the chef knew that I was really only interested in the crispy skin. There was tons of it and every bite had some! The sides that came along with it was great. We also tried their General Tso’s, which was good. Schezuan Beef was nice, and the small kids shared a seafood pan fried noodle, which they loved eating together. The scallops were enormous!I liked this restaurant, but would suggest that you avoid their fried rice. It comes as a side and I would recommend you request the white rice instead. It tasted like old nasty oversalted rice. Small issue for a good restaurant.

Delightful!!. Had a great meal here last night. Service was very attentive, food hot and fresh, portions large. Very tasty meal, well done and served in pleasant surroundings. We enjoyed the Orange Chicken and Chicken Chow Mein. The Wonton Soup and Egg Rollls were delicious. Go and enjoy!

The food is good and the price right. I heard the waiter give a family a hard time. They had kids and one if the kids had a hamburger. Oh my good you thought that this was the end if the world for chengs. I guess this resterant is NOT kid friendly, I do not know to many 4 year old like kind of food but the parents do. All I can say is make some slack for the families who enjoy your food and if one if the kids happens to have a hamburger from next door, who cares. They should still be honored with the business, it did take some effort for this family to eat at this resterant.

Favorite Take out. My favorite Chinese food place I’ve found since being in FL. The dumplings are amazing (even as leftovers) and the chicken & broccoli is perfect. Fast delivery and great food.

Small selection but best flavor lunch buffet. Most of the Chinese buffets in town have a few things in common. 1. they are usually pretty expensive2. they have lots and lots of different food that all tastes exactly the same (as if they were all cooked in the same pan using the same oil all day)3. you’re hungry 2 hours laterwell cheng’s isn’t much different when it comes to number 3 but that’s all chinese food ;-)Chengs is a small place, very quiet and very good. the price for an all you can eat lunch buffet is around 8 bucks. they might not have a giant selection that you would see at crazy buffet or something along those lines but they have all of the essentials that you’d wind up putting on your plate no matter where you go. not to mention that all of the food is FRESH and tastes great. I would go to cheng’s simply for their dumplings. i haven’t found a place in town yet that can even come close to how great their dumplings are. the only down side to this place is that they have one waiter/waitress. so if you are a thirsty person like myself and usually drink 5 or more cups of coke/water a meal you’ll be disappointed. you’re typically lucky to get 2 or 3 drinks. other than that this place is tasty, fast, and cheap. a definite must add to your lunch rotation.
