Didn’t like the lunch buffet.. I went there reluctantly with my husband who is a fan of Indian food. But, I went with an open mind and tried each dish on the buffet, except the curry, which I cannot eat. The only thing I liked was the cucumber salad, the fruit chutney, and naan bread. The ice tea was weak . My husband was disappointed..he said he has tasted boxed Indian food that tastes better than that. The desserts- a rice pudding, was awful and the fruit custard tasted like canned fruit in custard-but better than the pudding. For the price of $9.99, which we thought was overpriced due to only getting a choice of about 8 main dishes on one island. You can go down the street to Buffet City (Chinese) and pay $7.50 for the lunch buffet and have 12 islands of various dishes, from main dishes to desserts, even freshly made stir fry made for you on the spot-is so much better! You would think with their extensive dinner menu, they would at least put up another island of main dishes just to try to entice us to come back for dinner. Looking at the prices for that $14-18 a dish (except for soups, bread or vegetarian dishes-which are less), we were not enticed. Service was ok, not as good as some and the interior was very elegant and clean.
Taj experience. Went for dinner there on Sat. 8/31. A great experience. Have been to many Indian places but this was great. Food excellent, service attentive and at a good pace. Would highly recommend and will definetly return.
Party of 6 for Dinner. On a scale from 1 to 10TABLE SERVICE: 6 – Table service was adequate. A new server was on staff learning the ropes, she did her best. Was a bit disorganized and chaotic between the owners and the new server, due to the circumstances: new facility, new employees. The server did not know any of the menu items, we had to coax her to ask and learn with us.ORDERING TIME: 7.5 – The time it took to get our appetizers and meals for a table of 6 was reasonably timely.FOOD QUALITY: 7.5 – Everything except one dish was exactly as we ordered it. One dish that was ordered mild was too hot. Raita is one of my faves and I have never had it that runny. Tandoori chicken was excellent however, the portion was quite small. Desserts were excellent: Kheer & Pistachio KulfiATMOSPHERE: 8 – Restaurant is adequately appointed, nice clean lines, it is well lit and sparkling clean.PRICE POINT $$: 6 – I think the dinner prices are on the high side for what is served. Everything we ordered contained largely sauces and some vegetables, with small amounts of meat in those dishes that called for it. We as a group ordered a large variety of items so we could sample and share. Maybe they use organic products and this is reflected in the pricing?Do I recommend eating there? YES! Would I go back? YES! I would go back for their lunch buffet to give that a try. I would also go back for dinner on occasion because it is different, the food is good and the facility is CLEAN, attractive and comfortable.
Excellent Indian Cuisine. Finally a branch of the long time established Taj Restaurant from Tampa comes 45 miles North to the Spring Hill-Brooksville area.Opened 2 weeks ago you will find outstanding Indian cuisine at this restaurant. A lunch/brunch buffet that features a sample of everything Indian for $9.95 is quite the deal. Dinner is ala-cart and you can spice up your life with however you desire your food, mild to spicy. Staff is attentive and as at the Tampa location very friendly in my opinion. A great addition to the dining scene in the Northern reaches of Tampa Bay.
