I’ve been eating at Cappy’s for years and this is some of the best pizza in Tampa. The deep dish is excellent, especially when served right out of the cast iron pan. The only downside is cash only but it’s worth the trip to the ATM for this delicious food.

No debit/credit cards accepted. Husband and I went here for dinner and saw that they don’t take cards. We only had enough cash on us for maybe a medium pizza with no drinks and no tip…. So instead we decided to go somewhere else. How inconvenient… And they probably lose a lot of potential customers because of it.

Chicago Deep Dish. Called in my order for a large Cappy’s deep dish. Drove from home to pick up my pizza. Get there and discover they only take cash. What is that in this century? And why didn’t they tell me that over the phone?Scrounged enough money out of my car to pay for my pizza. Got my pizza home. It was uncut and, more importantly, was essentially a pile of thick tasteless dough with a gallon of very cheap-tasting marinara sauce on top. It was supposed to have pepperoni, sausage, ham, peppers, onions, and cheese. I could taste or find very little of those alleged ingredients except for the cheese. It’s like they use all of that sauce to hide the fact that they skimp on the toppings. I was very disappointed, especially after all the hoopla about Cappy’s. Tampa has some good pizza joints. However, I would not recommend Cappy’s in Seminole Heights as one of them. The manager also has an odd manner about him, like his day job is a mechanic and he’s not used to actually dealing with people. The whole experience was weird.

Love Cappys. My experience with dining at Cappys has always been great. I love the deep dish pizza, the veggie pizza and the fully loaded calzone.Their greek salad is wonderful. The waitresses are friendly.

Slow service. Stopped in to eat one night. There were two tables with people at them. No one greeted us at the door. We waited for 10 minutes before someone came up. We sat at the table for about 15 minutes before the guy came back to get our drink orders, then they finally came about 15 minutes later. Took about 30 minutes to get a pizza. It was good but not worth the wait. Probably won’t go back. The waiter wasn’t very friendly either.

Great Pizza, Awful Customer Service. Cappy’s is a place to go for great pizza. The Chicago style deep dish keeps me coming back, but I would eat there a whole lot more if they didn’t make me feel like I was inconveniencing them every time I go. I’ve never seen a business that resented their customers more than this one. There’s a whole list of rules, written and unwritten, that are conditions you must follow in order for them to honor you with their service. As an example, once I called in an order to pick up and when I noticed that there was nobody in the restaurant when I arrived to pick it up with my wife, I asked to eat it there instead. It wasn’t out of the oven yet, but they told me that I wasn’t allowed to sit down and eat it in the restaurant because I called it ahead. Other things include the refusal to accept any common form of payment used in the modern world (cash only), the notorious resentment of the behavior of children (despite furnishing their location with video games, toy trains, and nostalgic toys), and rules regarding where and when to sit. Throw on a topping of employees acting like their too cool to care about customer service, and you have the most frustrating dining experience ever. But the pizza is good.
