Mel’s has been a favorite spot of mine since I moved to Tampa in 2009. Friendly atmosphere and of course great hot dogs! Their Chicago Beef & Sausage Combo is delicious as well!

No value here. $5.00 for a hotdog and $.99 for chili $6.00 for a kids meal for hotdog fries and a drink does not offer value, this place is a rip off for value you can find a better tasting chili hotdog at checkers for a $1.49.Never again!!!!

I’m a Florida girl and know nothing about Chicago style dogs. That being said I had a slaw dog, hubby had a Mel’s your way and we split a corn dog. Everything was awesome and the portions were huge. A little pricey but I’d still rate it 8-8.5. We will be back.

Mel’s Forever!. Been going here since I was a child. Still delicious, years and years later.

Not a Fan. What is that relish? Is that made from green peppers? Mine tasted like dirt. Hated it. I am not sure what all the hype is about this place. Workers seemed mad we came in and bothered them. A boiled hot dog on a steamed bun (is that because they are stale?) Is not something to build a business on and the taste was just off. My bun fell apart and was so soggy on the bottom. If you are going to make a Chicago dog at least go there and eat one first. Wont be back.It may have been around a long time but so have a lot of other unpleasant things. I heard a while back Mel was selling it out and allowing them to keep the name. If this place was great he must have sold it before we got there because it was the worst hot dog of my life.

Rip OFF. The bad reviews are correct. And look how many! This place has GOT to be on it’s way out. I have no nostalgic connection to this place, so that’s fine with me. Here’s the main points.1. Lame food at VERY high prices. 2. Rude employees that hate their jobs. Obviously this points to ownership problems, which other reviewers noted but we were able to dodge.3. The decor is well attended to but it’s just a bait and switch. Looks great, promises, great food, delivers a rip off. Hope you like red bench seats and Fox news enough to pay $13 to go hungry enjoying them.Treat yourself right, eat elsewhere.
