If you are looking for a nice place to eat outside with your well behaved dog don’t bother. We missed the small sign that said service dogs only, and the rent-a-cop quickly ran us off. This is the only place in Tampa that we’ve been to with OUTDOOR seating where dogs are not allowed. Definitely a disappointment.

Father to share the experience for a late lunch on a Monday.First impression is the University Location on Fowler Avenue is HUGE! Then the noise hits you, overwhelms you, stresses you. I can’t imagine what my Father was going through with hearing aids.Ordered off the board above counter. I would order something from the board, and staff would try to correct me. I would point, they would ignore. I would order, and they did not know their products. I’m trying to translate for my Father who can not hear, staff has no clue and is no help. I confirmed order before we paid. And staff still got it wrong.We ate outside because it was so loud. Unaware staff walked out security door and set off siren. Miserable, stressful, and not that special.If you have eaten at Tampa’s Hot Dog Landmark MEL’S, near Busch gardens during the past 40+ years, you have enjoyed a much better experience: Chicago Hot Dogs better, Fries better, presentation far better, service light-years better, and environment calmer.I/we have tried Portillo’s, don’t need to ever ever go back.
