Less than mediocre food, poor service. The food was a less than mediocre and I was utterly appalled by the how brash, rude and unprofessional the restaurant attendant (Taras daughter) was, in trini terms Hoggish like I have not seen in the 15 years I have lived in America. The restaurant itself is an absolute dump of a whole in the wall, nonetheless I was prepared to give it a try since I have eaten in many whole in the walls where the food was incredible. When my teenage daughter and I walked into the restaurant there was one other customer. Tara and her daughter were behind the counter talking, then Taras daughter got on the phone. There was no attempt by either of the two to acknowledge us, say hello or make any indication they would be with us shortly. After sitting for about 15 minutes and wondering what was going on, Taras daughter started yelling another persons name in my confusion I was thinking maybe she was yelling for another attendant to come and take our order. When the yelling stopped, we realized it was her child no older than 7 she was yelling for. After that commotion she finally approached us with a very bad attitude. She took my order then moved to my daughter who asked to have shrimp she seemed to get more agitated when my daughter was not quick enough to specify what type of shrimp she rudely barked at my daughter shrimp WHAT?While we waited for the food to be cooked my daughter and I listened in amazement as Taras daughter answered the phone with an even worse temperament, what menu you talking bout, listen, call me back when you make up yuh mind and hung up the phone on the customer. As we sat there, we were never asked if we wanted something to drink a glass of water, a soda, nothing. The food was surprising quick, she brought it out and served it to us without a word far from the norm of is there something else I can get for you, can I get you something to drink, nothing. While we ate, we had to endure the screams of her yelling back and forth to her young daughter behave yuh self. To top off our experience our gracious attendant then got herself a pack of red mango (preserved mango) and proceeded to eat it in front of us as she sucked on the mango bone.Needless to say we swallowed as fast as we could and hastily made our way out. I was ashamed and disappointed by my experience at this restaurant. I will not recommend this place to my friends and family or my fellow Trinidadians. Furthermore, I will discourage any American wanting to try this place, as the food was below par and the service was beyond disgraceful in the representation of Trinidad food and culture.

Awesome. If you are looking for awesome Trindad roti, this is the place for you. It’s basically a stuffed thin dough pocket full of curry chickpeas, chicken, or goat. It is pretty spicy, filling, and cheap. Tara makes her own curry powder and adds a hefty portion to the curries/rotis. I get extra spicy and it is the yummiest fire imaginable. Don’t expect service or decor, as Tara is very no nonsense. Still, I dream about this flavor.
