We have eaten here before and it was wonderful. Today things where off. The bread was cold and stale. The tostones where not cooked fresh and crisp. They where very soggy and oily. Lots of oil on the rice and the black beans where very very salty. The service was great the waiter and staff was very attentive. I hope this was a freak event.

I went on Friday around 5:45PM I ordered fish al vaporwith vegetables and yellow rice, but it came with white rice when I said no the waiter, a woman, replied from the wall that the yellow rice it was gone. then I asked for the vegetables and she told after a while , that the onions and green pepper that came with the fish were the vegetables. I explained to her that those were not the vegetables and she replied well here these are the vegetables and thiss order come with one side, however the menu read grouper al vapor with vegetables and yellow rice. With this kind of service I don’t think I will come back. Though the fish taste good.

Drive thru cashier not friendly, doesnt thank you when you pay and leave. When I placed an order for pick up they didn’t have my order as I had placed it. When i ordered a criolli breakfast to go they didn’t ask me what type of croquetas and when I got home they were chicken instead of ham plus the croquetas were mushy instead of crunchy.

Simple Good Cuban food. I am a non-cuban who got spoiled by an old cuban lady’s heavenly cooking to the point I can be very snooty when it comes to cuban food 🙂 Islas Canarias passes my taste buds with flying colors. Delicious croquetas, frijoles, maduros and variety of dishes cooked just the way I am used to. You have to call in an hour and some ahead for the Paella’s but, man, they are worth it!! Reasonable price, very friendly service. Love this place!

Good solid Cuban food. I’ve been a patron of this restaurant since my husband & I moved to the neighborhood in 1987. I love the food, it reminds me of my mother’s cooking. My anglo husband loves the pork chunks with moros (black beans with rice) & maduros (ripe fried plantains). I love the potaje the garbanzo (chickpea stew), but my favorite above all is their carnero estofado (lamb in wine sauce). I love all kinds of cuisine but when I feel like Cuban we head for Islas Canarias. Good authentic food at reasonable prices.
