How could a review be so wrong?. Pulled up food critics Tallahassee for Restaurant Reviews on flight for a 4 day visit to the city. Hope my next choices prove to be better. I was so looking forward to dinner. The review specifically said A++ for service and went on and on about how much the wait staff and owners strived to make diners experience at this restaurant a memorable experience. A rude waiter ruined whatever other good things I could have said about this restaurant and the food.
Seems tired.. The hosts who greeted us seemed a little disorganized, but friendly. Our server was attentive (perhaps too much for my personal preference). Overall, this place just seems tired. The decor is nothing to write home about, our table was crazy wobbly, and the food didn’t feel fresh or modern. It also didn’t seem very French from my experience or understanding. I don’t think we’ll return, but I’m grateful that the one time we did go, the service did not give any reason for real complaint.
Thumbs up. Great First class Dinner. My Wife and I had Escargo, It was prepared Perfectly. Served hot. Special bean, mustard, olive, salad served, small but tasty, donated by the chef. Bread was special with butter and a special sauce. My wife had a second appetizer of pork baby back ribs deboned and delicious. I had the deboned lamb shank with Kale and rissoto. It was tender and delicious as well. A great special dinner. Yes, expensive but elegant and worth it. Leif was our waiter. He was efficient and informative.
Delicious. Exquisite French cuisine can be had here. It’s EXTREMELY pricey but a delightful treat when it can be had. Me and my boyfriend went for his birthday and we were two of seven customers but I think the reason being because of price and hidden location. The atmosphere is very tranquil and elegant giving your dining experience the most regal of tones possible. I recommend everything on the menu but be warned. The flavors in these dishes are very rich and flavorful and not for those who may like mild flavors.
Melted brie on escargot?. I like melted brie. I like escargot. It never crossed my mind to smother melted brie all over escargot. It was positively awful. Whomever came up with that idea at A La Provence should go back to working the register at a Shell station. I don’t know who is reviewing these places in Tallahasee and giving them such glowing remarks. This is two fairly expensive meals in a row now that have been downright terrible. $140 for this joint — for two, including tax and tip — is an absolute insult. Yes, I’ve spent half my life in Chicago and been spoiled by amazing food when I was there, but come on, people. A La Provence is about as French as a Denny’s.
Great lunch menu
