One of my favorite places in Tallahassee. Really great food and the lady who runs it is really nice. I’ve been to both the lunch buffet and supper but my wife prefers supper there. Not the most modern atmosphere but the food and service make up for it. I’m not an expert but the food seems authentic and it is definitely delicious.
If you haven’t been to Bahn Thai since early 2015, then be forewarned: this is NOT the same restaurant anymore. Sue, the owner, has retired and sold the place. The new owners have a completely different menu and none of the recipes seem to be the same. The inside has been redone to look more modern and upscale, and a sushi bar has been added. Personally, I don’t get the Thai and Sushi trend – the flavors don’t mix well and are different cuisines and ingredients seeing as Thailand is tropical and Japan is not! The new restaurant is just OK. I shared a Spring Roll (which they list on the menu as a Summer Roll?) Pad Thai, and Panang Curry with my friend when we tried out the new Bahn Thai and I was completely underwhelmed. There was nothing wrong with the food, service was good, prices on par with other Thai places, but things just seemed a much less flavorful than Sue’s recipes! I feel like I have lost a piece of my childhood!!!
New place. New management. Remodeled and looks great. Soup and appetizers were excellent. Fresh, flavorful, crispy. Suggest everyone return for a new experience.
My wife and I LOVE Bhan Thai! She normally gets the 119v which is a coconut curry and she literally talks about it all the time. I’ve gotten a few things off the menu and enjoyed all of them. The lunch buffet is awesome, but only if you get there kinda early. The buffet ends at 2:30, so if you’re planning on going at 2:00 expect it to be sparse, and expect that they won’t put new things out. All in all this is one of our favorite restaurants.
One of the best in town. This little restaurant on South Monroe Street is a pure gem! The array of fantastically delicious dishes at the lunch buffet is the best deal in town. I could take a straw to coconut soup and just crowd-out other customers. The Basil Chicken is soooo good and a friend who has been around agrees with me: the egg roll is the best I’ve ever eaten. The rest of the food cannot be beat. See if it isn’t the best deal in town.
Great food.. Tried the buffet and it was awesome. Dont know the names of most of what I ate but it was all good. Will be bringing my friends and family here as soon as possible. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Highly recommend.
