Man I want to say something nice but I am left with no good to report. That ain’t Swiss cheese on the Cuban sandwich and I’m pretty certain it has mayo between the meats. No bueno! Palomilla was tender but black beans were starchy and that is my favorite part of the meal usually. Just hoping for better from a mom & pop. Disappointing.
Since I’ve moved to FL, I’ve been a fan of Cuban food so checking out all of the Cuban restaurants in Tallahassee is one of my food goals. I hit up Carlos’ for lunch on a Friday to see what they were about and it was ok. Wasn’t bad at all. Food was decent but nothing that seriously impressed me. The papa rellena was good but had a very slight weird taste to it. The croquettes were excellent but the Cuban sandwich was one of the thinnest I’ve ever had. The melted cheese on it was extremely good but I’ve had better in Tally. If you’re nearby and have a craving for Cuban cuisine, it’s worth a visit. It’s just not outstanding.
