Love Crystal River! Always have. Always will. They have great appetizers and great fried seafood. My favorite thing to get is the all you can eat special which is only about $10 or so and the best part about it is you can start off with one thing….say, fried catfish…..then choose another option for round two at no extra charge. You can even change your side dishes as well. Crystal River has a nice Southern charm to it to pair with its nice Southern seafood selections. I’d take them over Red Lobster any day.

Today our family ate at this restaurant. We experienced poor customer service. The waitress was great. ordered the triple special, fish, scallops and shrimp. When the plate came it only had the scallops and shrimp. When the waitress realized HER mistake, she went back to get the piece of fish. Out marched the manager on duty asking that the plate be returned to him so he could remake the plate with the fewer items (3 shrimp and two scallops), before adding the fish. Needless to say, that plate never left the table. We were a party of 8, and his need to protect $1.00 signals to me that customer service means nothing. When asked, he was the manager and a bit rude. He could not or would not provide District Manager or corporate information. Fortunately for us, Tallahassee has lots of options. 1st Lady

We had a party of 10. They don’t have a table big enough so they set us in back to back booths. Mandy was our server. She was fabulous. Our drinks were never empty. She was extremely friendly and helpful. She was genuinely happy to wait on us. To be fair we recognize that a party of 10 with 3 different checks is nothing short of challenging but her temperament never wavered. This is probably the best service we have EVER received here, even with much smaller parties. The food was good. It was hot and fresh. Most of us had fried shrimp. Hard to mess that up. One had the catfish, which he enjoyed and one had baked mahi which was also good. The food is not outstanding but it was good. The seafood dip is very good. All in all it was a good experience. If you go, ask for Mandy- you won’t be sorry.

HORRIBLE FOOD/TERRIBLE SERVICE. I took my mother to dinner for mother’s day and the service and food were both HORRIBLE! We ordered the seafood triple from the double/triple menu selection which is $14.99 before taxes. When we received our dinners, we both noticed that the portion size was very small, especially compared to white patrons sitting around us. I had six (6) shrimps; two (2) very small pieces of Pollock, which was about the size of a fish stick each; one (1) bite-size crab cake; two (2) hushpuppies and a plate full of french-fries. I asked to speak with the manager (Mike Rush) regarding our meals and he stated, in a very rude tone, that we were getting the lunch portion and not the dinner portion. Nonetheless, I orders were much smaller by comparison. The food was bland and not tasty at all. In addition, the air conditioner was turned up so high that by the time they bring your plate, the dinner’s almost cold. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy, let alone black patrons. Trust me when I tell you they will show you no respect; the white patrons a treated with a great deal of respect and get larger portion sizes, not that it matters because the food is horrible! I paid a total of $37.37 for an almost empty plate of crap. To add insult to injury, the waitress’s customer services skills were less than desirable; to be completely honest, she was rude as hell. Save your money and go elsewhere. My BIGGEST REGRET was taking my mother here for Mother’s Day; it was a disaster. Needless to say, I will never patronize Crystal River ever again!!!

Delicious seafood and friendly service. With so many seafood restaurants in the area, we have been trying them out and Crystal River Seafood has moved to the top of our list for quality of food, price and sizes of meals and friendly service! My husband and I ordered the Galley Meal for two and it was huge! Enough to take home and enjoy again. We got it broiled except for the clam strips and crab cakes and were not disappointed. We enjoyed the artwork on the walls and our waitress was so nice and answered our questions with a smile. We noticed the plates coming out of the kitchen and everything looked delicious. The restaurant was full and many customers appeared to be repeats. We definitely will be back very soon! Great job folks!

Good southern fried comfort.. To be honest, I did not expect much from this restaurant. The only reason I went is because my husband went with some coworkers one day and said it was good. I am pretty hesitant when it comes to seafood. The restaurant itself was nothing fancy, but comfortable. Our waitress was super nice and I appreciated her kind and helpful nature (having been a server before, I notice good service when I see it). I ordered the fried catfish filet dinner with cheese grits and fried okra. I will admit that the side selections were slim, but what I ordered was so delicious that I have found my go-to sides for return trips. The amount of catfish I got for the price and the taste was well worth it (plus, I had enough to take home for a second meal!). We will be returning.

Delicious seafood, roll the dice with service…. I tried the restaurant while passing through Tallahassee on my way southward on vacation, and the experience was so pleasant I returned again on my way home. Excellent fresh seafood served in very generous portions on both trips. On the first visit my server was friendly and welcoming despite me unwittingly walking in 15 minutes before closing due to a watch error. (I made sure to order the dish she said would be fastest for the kitchen to prepare, and ate quickly to avoid keeping anyone late.) My return trip 4 days later featured even better food, some of the best broiled lobster I’ve ever tasted. Unfortunately there were multiple problems with my waitress on this second visit, including snippy demeanor which left me feeling awkward and unwelcome. If it had been my first visit I would have cancelled my order and never returned, but having had a great experience earlier in the week I assumed this wasn’t the norm and stuck around for a meal that was worth the discomfort. I’d definitely recommend trying the place out, just ask to be seated in another section if you see your waitress is a middle-aged brunette woman with glasses.
