Ehh…I admit I was spoiled on good Mexican and Tex-Mex food when I lived in Texas, and this place just does not compare. However it’s not a bad place to do some day drinking on the porch with some complimentary chips and salsa.
When I first moved into the Tallahassee area I thought this place wasn’t to bad. But over the years the quality of the food and the inside of this location has gone down hill. The inside has ripped seats chipped paint and an odor that I think is coming from the ripped seats. The food has no flavor and just seems really bland. Even though they have buy one get one on Margaritas they have little alcohol in them. There are many other Mexican places in the Tallahassee area that are much better.
Fined here many times as a grad student at FSU. Food was always good and service was adequate. Enjoyed some musical entertainment on certain evenings.
This is the place to go for a party! You can’t beat the atmosphere, very fun and loud. Don’t go expecting the best food or service, but they do have the best margaritas.
Food was good, quick service, lunch special was a good value.
I Love This Place. I ADORE this place. The service is always great; I, for one, don’t enjoy having servers come to the table every two minutes to ask if everything’s okay. The servers at EJ are always really sweet and we never want for anything as far as drinks or complaints. The chips and salsa are so fantastic that I find myself craving them. And, of course, the maragaritas. I always get a nice buzz going after 1 (I don’t stop there, of course); I think if you order yours on the rocks it will be more alcoholic than a frozen one. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve had on their menu (so far, the fajita steak salad, steak fajitas, and chiles rellenos with chicken). My boyfriend ordered the shrimp adobe and it was phenomenal. For the life of me, I can’t understand why people complain about EJ so much–and I consider myself a pretty big snob when it comes to food. We come here about every other week or so, love it!
I go to el jaliscos a lot for the margarita happy hour and normally enjoy it but this last time was terrible. There was a loud obnoxious party sitting behind us and they were so rude to the waiter I went inside to tell a manager I didn’t like witnessing such treatment and the manager just laughed at me and told me to move. Then later on a bum was riding around the lot and another table next to us called over the man who was clearly drunk and offered him their food and bought him drinks and this continued for about 15 minutes until finally another manager called the police. The margaritas are amazing but the food is terrible and the managers are very unprofessional. Go to a different el jaliscos.
