I can’t understand how this place gets such high marks. The food was average at best, and the service was lousy. I visited during lunch time and the place was nearly empty. The waitress who seated me asked for my drink order then totally forgot about me. I had to flag another waiter to get my drink and food order. I ordered the vaca frita with moros and tostones . The vaca frita was burnt, the moros were dry, and the tostones were stale. I won’t be back.

The garbanzo & sausage soup is superb. Makes a delicious lunch with the pan con vegetales (fresh grilled veggies on a sandwich) or the media noche (cuban on sweet bread). The picadillo makes a wonderful dinner. Service is always attentive and friendly. I try to avoid pork entirely but they keep me coming back for more, if that gives you an idea of how good it is.

Always love going to Habana’s. Staff is friendly and very attentive. The saltiado is wonderful, as is the vaca frita. Tamale appetizer is great as well. Best Cuban food in town. Would recommend to everyone.

Still searching for good Cuban food in Tally :-(. I have been to Habana’s several times and it was always pretty good. As a Cuban-American I thought it was good enough to make me come back, however, the last two times have been disappointing. We ordered take-out and the food was cold and not very flavorful. The steaks were tough, the ‘ropa vieja’ (shredded beef) lacked seasoning and tomato sauce (one of the main ingredients). The ‘maduros’ (fried bananas) were cut too thick and hard…basically inedible. My mom (who is Cuban) thinks the food was not fresh and maybe was a few days old. It was NOT worth the $88 we paid. Needless to say, I won’t be going back any time soon 🙁

Sorry Gordo’s!!! I was born and raised in Louisiana. Never had Cuban food until I moved to Florida. When I got to Tallahassee, it was all about Gordo’s and Black Bean………until now. No disrespect to those places cause their food is great and those businesses will always have a place in my heart……..but Habana’s Boardwalk is CRUSHING THEM!!! Ordered the Croquetas and the Habana. The Croquetas were piping hot and fresh. They came with a dipping sauce that’s different from the ones you get at Gordo’s and Black Bean but complimented them perfectly. The Habana is a regular Cuban sandwich with lettuce, onions and tomatoes added. Softest bread I’ve ever had on one, even after being pressed. Huge portions with plenty of meat. Unless something exceeds Habana’s Boardwalk, this is now my favorite Cuban restaurant.
