Bad Service, and Mediocre Food. Me and Carson decided to enjoy a nice lunch as a release from the homework and stresses of school. We both decided on a place we have never tried before called Jim and Milts BBQ. The exterior of the Restaurant gives it a home cooking kind of feel, and that appealed to me and Carson. We are both avid BBQ lovers and will try almost every BBQ Restaurant we can find. Upon entrance, the Restaurant was set up in a family picnic kind of way. The kitchen was directly to your right as you walked in, and a variety of picnic tables scattered across the Restaurant. The interior made you feel like you were at a comfortable cook out with your family. We sat down and were greeted by an older Lady appearing to be in her later 50s. Her customer service was not anything I would write home about. She was very stern and quick to get to the point, she didnt make any extra efforts to make you feel comfortable or welcome. Carson and I both ordered the same thing; the Yankee sandwhich. We waited about 10 to 15 minutes before our food came out. When the food arrived I was not impressed. It seemed as if they had store bought the buns, and the sandwich appeared to be sloppily thrown together. The sandwhich all in all was alright. It didnt strike me as that good but it wasnt terrible. On the other hand, I had ordered fries with my Sandwich and they came out soggy, and mushy. They were not of any flavor and seemed to have been sitting in a greaser overnight. We never saw the waitress the rest of our meal. We had only seen her twice to get our drink and food orders. It seemed as if we were bothering her by coming to the Restaurant. She finally came as soon as we were finished and slammed the check down on our table without a word exchanged. Carson and I were stunned at the lack of customer service. We walked to the front counter and paid, leaving no tip. We left thoroughly unsatisfied and a little disappointed in our choice to eat at Jim and Milts.

DISAPPOINTING. I stopped in recently looking forward to the old time j&m’s I remembered from my college days; not much inside has changed which is great, except that the whole place is kinda grimy now. For that there’s no real excuse. The place was pretty empty but it took quite a while to order and receive my meal for some reason. Oh yea, I remember why; the waitress was busy texting. My order, the beef plate with beans and coleslaw arrived uniform in temperature. So either the coleslaw was warm or the beans and beef were cold. The beef portion seemed small, which is probably for the best since it was also tough and dry. As for the beans, I expect them to be from a can, just not straight from the can. The coleslaw didn’t taste bad, it had just become so watery it seemed more like a cabbage soup than a slaw.I hope someone takes some interest in this place and it gets better. It would be a shame to lose a place that has so much history, color and character to apathy and poor management.

Pretty comparable to Sonny’s. I enjoyed it. We had the all you can eat chicken platter for like $9. What a great deal, especially if you come with an appetite. You start with a half chicken, coleslaw, garlic toast, and beans. Then, you get to refill it all as much as you want. Chicken and toat is great, but coleslaw and beans are just average. Service is good and nice atmosphere. Parking lot is a little weird but it’s Tallahassee so what can you do?

What a disappointment. The chicken was dry old tasting and small. I have never seen such small chicken served in a restaurant.

Great Game Day Spot. We always hit Jim & Milt’s on game days either before or after the Noles crush whomever comes to town that particular Saturday. Love their Brunswick stew. Pork sandwich is also very good. Come on all you haters – this is a local color spot. If you’re looking for fancy – go somewhere else. But if you’re looking for a casual meal in a place that is real – this is it!
