Been enjoying Kiku on a regular basis due to proximity. The teriyaki salmon bento box is my favorite. Sure, there are a couple of outstanding places in town for sushi that really take it to another level, but Kiku is a solid choice and I’ve never been disappointed. The service and atmosphere is always lovely. You’ll get better seafood here than at Bonefish. Some vegetarian options (for those of you who are interested), but you have to do a bit of finagling and be careful here. My only complaint is it’s a little too dark in there, but I do need new glasses…

Rotten fish. Ugh – this might be the first time I have ever been served rotten sashimi :p Granted, some of the sashimi was fine, even good – but this was totally outweighed by the pieces of Yellowtail I was served in the ‘deluxe’ sashimi platter, which had gone bad. Surely the sushi chef should have realised this and not served it. It was the most unpleasant experience ever to be eating a mouthful of rotten fish – I then checked the remaining pieces of Yellowtail, and they were all bad, one could tell just from the smell! Needless to say, I certainly won’t be eating at Kiku again :p

Good Service, Great Food. Carson took me out on a date night after a rough week in school in hopes of finding a new oriental restaurant we can enjoy. We tried Kiku’s located off of Thomasville Road, and Ocala Road. We entered the Restaurant to a dark lounge like atmosphere. The hostess was nice and presentable as she led us willingly to our seats. We sat down in a comfortable two seater both on the side of the Restaurant. The inside was not very big, but set up very nicely and arranged to where you could enjoy the privacy of your company. Our waitress greeted us, and was very friendly getting our drink and meal orders. Carson ordered the Teriyaki plate, and I ordered two sides; the Edamame, and Cheese Wontons. I asked for the Edamame first, and recieved it within less than 10 minutes. Our waitress was very fast and efficient. The soy beans were fresh and cooked properly. They tasted delicious, and left me feeling very hopeful. Our food came out and neither of us were disappointed. Carsons chicken was tender, and had a great smooth and tasteful texture. The Teriyaki sauce was very sweet and satisfying and worked perfectly marinated over the chicken. My Cheese Wontons were the best I have ever had. The shell was nice and crisp, and the inside was warm and flavorful. The food and service were both great, and the Restaurant management is efficient and very well structured. Carson and I both enjoyed it and will be visiting again shortly!
