While the drinks are tasty (and potent) and the service is terrific, every time I’ve visited there has been a food issue in the group I am with – lukewarm mushrooms in a vegetarian burrito, frostburned fried ice cream (to an inedible degree), and a surprise ground beef enchilada on the plate with my 3 other bean enchiladas (I am a vegetarian). I may stop by for happy hour and guac or queso in the future (they are both very good here), but I will not be ordering an actual meal here again.
Went here with coworkers who were getting drunk on margaritas while I was staying sober. They started out with the alcohol and seemed to really enjoy the mango flavor and all the food that came afterward…but that was after 2-3 giant margaritas each, which I can only assume was impairing their senses. The service was friendly and good, but the food was just ok. Chips and salsa were nothing special, jalapeno poppers were ok, and the taco salad was decent except for the one uncooked bean that came out of nowhere and almost broke my teeth. Didn’t eat much of the beef at the bottom b/c it had no flavor. Honestly, I didn’t eat much at all. My coworkers’ more authentic dishes looked like slop and didn’t smell like anything special. Pretty lukewarm about Los Compadres. There are better options in town, but it was cheap and edible.
There’s really not much I can say about this place, service was good but the food was just sub par. There’s at least 5 other Mexican restaurants in town with better food. Cheese dip was good but the chips weren’t that great and neither was anything we ordered. The beans were a little funking tasty and the atmosphere was a little strange with some weird people there as well. Most likely will never pick this place over another Mexican place In Town again.
