You Must. I am a frequent patron of Mickey’s and have been for the last two years. I will agree with some of the haters, that in the beginning, their food was not the most amazing thing ever. However, if you haven’t been for a lunch visit in the past few months you are missing out on a local gem of awesome. No, not every last thing on their menu is heaven in your mouth, but a few of their items are. I would dare to say that if you order my suggestions below, you will find yourself a frequent patron as well.Start off with a sweet tea. Some of the best in town, according to me. Not too sweet and always fresh. Don’t even waste your time looking at the rest of the menu… you must order the goat and artichoke quiche. Buttery crust- check. Rich, smooth, creamy all in one- check. The quiche also comes with a side salad, which I always upgrade to a house salad (pecans, blue cheese, and fresh strawberries) for a buck extra. Yes, that buck is soooo worth it. Oh, get the house dressing. It is a homemade honey dijon vinaigrette. Pure Yum on a plate.Finish this meal off with a slice of warm pecan pie and hand whipped, whipping cream. Oh dear Lord. This slice of awesome is gooey in all the right places and full of crunchy, caramelized pecans.If you are not a quiche lover, I would strongly recommend the muffaletta sandwich. There crunchy bread is smeared with a homemade green olive, garlic spread and topped with good quality sandwich meat. It comes out warm, and I always ask for an extra side of the olive spread. You can never have to much of this spread. I have actually contemplated asking if they can make me a jar I can buy… This spread would be delish on so many things.There you have it. A new favorite!. We recently visted Tallahassee to consider a move there.After a packed day of looking at houses, we stopped at Mickey’s Lakeside for lunch and some serious decision-making.The beautiful setting, overlooking Lake Ella was lovely and relaxing. Our waiter was kind, attentive, professional…and our lunch was out-of-this-world yummy! I had the goat cheese artichoke quiche which was bursting with flavor. The consistent texture was also note worthy. My husband raved about his sandwich and we both enjoyed fresh brewed iced tea.Add something that means a great deal to us…the cafe is pet-friendly. Dogs are served on the patio wth genuine care and concern. Love this place! And after such a delightful experience…yup…we bought a home nearby.
Mickeys will always be a specialPlace for me! They have fantastic food and great staff. I proposed to my fianc here and they couldn’t have been more helpful! I highly recommend eating here any chance you get! I am already looking forward to my next visit! 🙂
