Yummy!. We’ve been trying to make the rounds of locally owned restaurants in Tallahassee and it was Mickey’s turn. The reviews are good and after trying Mickey’s, I have to say they are well-deserved. Like all businesses in the Lake Ella cottages, access is a bit more of a challenge than other places, but we arrived for an early lunch around 11:30 and had no trouble finding a spot to park near the restaurant. This time we had sandwiches – a Reuben and a Cuban. Next time (and oh yes, there will be a next time) we’ll probably try the quiche which looked tasty sitting in front of a couple of nearby diners. We shared the sandwiches, so we could each taste both sandwiches. They were both delicious with plenty of meat and melty cheese. Sides offered were chips or coleslaw. There was also a tomato-cucumber salad available that we didn’t know about as it wasn’t on the menu. The coleslaw is of the creamy variety with mild seasoning. The portion was quite generous. The chips were just regular out-of-the-bag chips. An option for baked chips or Sun Chips would have been welcome. We both had Diet Cokes which I wouldn’t normally mention, but do so only to note that the sodas were canned rather than fountain and didn’t appear to have been refrigerated. They came with a glass chock full of ice, however, so not being refrigerated wasn’t really an issue.Having read the other reviews, we had to try the pecan pie and it lived up to the hype. It was a large slice served with a dollop of whipped cream on the side. Two dollops would have been better, but that’s nitpicking. The other option for dessert was Key Lime pie. I was tempted because I love a good Key Lime pie, but the pecan won out and I’m happy it did. There was nothing really notable about the service one way or the other. Our sandwiches did take a bit longer to prepare because they were hot and prepared to order. If you’re in a time crunch, the quiche might be a better option. We noted that it came out of the kitchen quite fast. But if you’ve got a few extra minutes, the sandwiches are well worth the wait. All in all, this was a great dining experience. Good job, Mickey’s.

Love It!. I can’t believe I just discovered this great caf recently. I had the grilled veggie sandwich and can say without hesitation, it was the best I have ever had. I will definitely go there often now that I know about it, and will enjoy taking my dog for a walk around Lake Ella and stopping by the caf for lunch, as the outside seating area is dog friendly.
