Deliciously Romantic. This was a beautiful dining experience- atmosphere, food, service was inclusively wonderful. I have nothing but positive things to say about this restaurant. It is definitely a hidden gem. Our table ordered a collection of lamb nachos (AMAZING!), chicken wings, chicken pad Thai, and a spicy shrimp. They were all delectable. The lamb nachos were so good that my husband ordered them for an entree after having them for an appetizer. I am so happy that our friends recommended this restaurant. I know where I am going on our next date night out!

If you want authentic African food…STAY AWAY!. I think it is always good to start with the positives. With that being said, the service was great. Everyone(seriously, 5 people) asked us how we were doing/how was everything…I only wish I could have given a more candid answer. The nachos were the best thing we ordered. The samosa were definitely overpriced ($7 for 2, and nothing that you couldn’t find at Whole Foods). The ‘Ethiopian Stew’ was the poorest imitation of Ethiopian food that I have ever had in my life. The ‘injera’ was very thick and reminded me of an ‘Egg McMuffin’ from McDonalds. The sides that came with the stew were not sides at all, they were on the injera and an awful addition to it, I must add. $18 for leftovers that I will give to my dog…I hope she eats it. I lived in Kenya for 2 years and during that time I traveled to Ethiopia, Uganda and Tanzania. If you have ever traveled to an African country, or maybe you’ve had authentic African cuisine in the U.S, you will be highly disappointed with the food and prices at this restaurant. I was so disappointed, as many of the reviews and pictures of the food were fabulous and there was so much hype surrounding this place. I have since realized that many of these reviews were from months to a year ago. We were told that the international chefs have left the restaurant. It all makes sense now.

Great service, even better foodd. Our first visit and 10 of us had dinner. Staff answered all our questions and made recommendations. The owner (at least that is who we assume she was) came out and spoke with us about the restaurant and meals. We will be back!

Stopped by Sunday afternoon. Had a very creative and tasty nachos dish with a great smoothie! Will definitely try it again! Definitely a hidden treasure in Tallahassee!

If you do not come, then you are irrelevant. Good thing I have found this place. I often dine here for their brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. My favorite brunch menu item are the vegan pancakes, which are perfect!!! You can not go wrong with them. I ordered two, because I thought I was hungry! Well, I did not not finish them both. Further, the ambiance and the restaurant owners are welcoming. The owners often walk around and check on the patrons. Give the restaurant a try, you will definitely not be disappointed with the pancakes 🙂

Wonderful Experience. Had a great dinner last night at Nefetari’s. The menu has the most variety of flavor profiles in the area. Our group very much enjoyed the Ethiopian stew, three of us had it with lamb, and one with chicken. No matter the protein, it was fantastic. The waitress described the spiciness of the dish as a 6.5/10. I would agree. Very nice spice, but not overwhelming. The flavors were all on point. The dish is served with two sides, lentils, and served atop injera bread. The bread was amazing. Tears away easily and is fluffy like a crepe or pancake. Was an amazing vehicle to eat the stew with. The dessert sampler. available on Wednesday night, was the star of the show. We sampled a vegan chocolate cake (insanely good), red velvet cake, pumpkin cheesecake, pistachio cheesecake, peach cake, and my personal favorite the pecan cheesecake. It was perfect. A great environment with the most gracious and caring hosts. Will definitely back, sooner than later.

I wish I could dine here everyday!!. I had dinner at Nefetari’s last night and let me just say–OMG. The food was AMAZING! I already knew the atmosphere was awesome, since I used to regularly attend Black on Black Rhyme (their spoken word poetry night). Its the type of place that feels like you’re sitting in your own really awesome living room with perfect lighting, the smell of incense, and the staff makes you feel as if you’ve known them forever. We sat at the bar, and Oral was our bartender. He was super friendly and made our visit that much more enjoyable. When we first got there, they let us know that there would be a wait for our food since everything is home cooked. They were right, and it probably took us around 45 minutes to get our food. But it was definitely worth it. We had the jerk chicken, vegan mac and cheese, basmati rice, and collard greens. I can’t stop thinking about the meal. Best food Ive had in Tallahassee, no contest.
