Since moving back here from Texas I’ve had a goal to find the best traditional-like tacos in town and I have to admit Peppers does their Taco de Carnitas pretty well. The carnitas were braised perfectly, juicy and tender, but not soggy on the tortilla. It was served with a tomatillo sauce, a excellent pairing for pork, and topped with white onion and cilantro. I have to say I will be back.
Don’t know why it took me so long to try them. I have not eaten much Mexican food in Tallahassee since partaking in the heaven that is the Pepitos in Niceville/Destin, but this place comes close. The vegetarian options are amazing with a true variety of vegetables. The rice and beans have actual flavor, unlike the usual bland Mexican fare you get in this town. The service is fast and helpful. I am slowly working my way through the menu and have yet to be disappointed.
Passionless Mexican slop. The food comes out in 5 minutes. The food is made ahead of time and they just throw it together and it is awful. The food is a disgrace to anyone who has had good Mexican food. I know your cooks eat better than this. Tallahassee has the worst Mexican food of any place I have even been to. Can anyone please put some passion into making authentic Mexican food.
Always Delicious Always Filling!. To me almost all the local Mexican joints are about on the same level. Same goes with Chinese takeout. So it’s to find a place that is a little above the rest. They have killer salsa, 2-4-1 beers and a killer, giant steak burrito. For the money, take, clean interior, and kinda friendly (but not very personable) staff, this is the only maxi-resturanunt the wife likes to frequent.
Food Really good…..but where is the service?. I have had two female servers on two separate occasions. Food was really good both times,and the service was below average at best both times. I think I will sit at the bar next time.
Best Mexican food. I must admit that I am not a big fan of Mexican food, probably because I have not eaten at very good Mexican restaurants, but Peppers is the best Mexican food experience I have had, and probably one of the best restaurants in Tallahassee. We recently dined on Father’s day. We were seated quickly, our drink order was taken promptly, and right away they served hot, fresh tortilla chips and salsa. The chips were great, not too salty, and the salsa was good without being too spicy and salty.Here is what we ordered: my dad and I ordered fish tacos and my mom ordered Chimichanga. For the fish tacos, I got 2 fish tacos, each served on 2 layers of corn tortillas. The fish was blackened and perfectly seasoned. There was a light sauce, avocado slices, lettuce, and I think cabbage. For some acidity and tanginess, you could spoon some salsa onto the fish, but I didn’t find that necessary. In addition, the order came with a large plate of the best refried beans and rice I’ve eaten. The chimichanga was ordered with a beef filling. It came with rice and refried beans as well as guacamole, sour cream, and lettuce. It, too, was hot and fresh and very tasty.The pricing was very reasonable, the restaurant was clean, and the service was great. I’ll definitely be coming back.
Where’s the Seasoning. The food is not seasoned well or not at all. However, the service was good.
