I was pleasantly surprised when I took my wife here for dinner. I found that although it doesn’t look very new or exciting on the outside, the dining area is spacious and clean, complete with real candles and flowers at each table, which is a nice touch. Our server was very friendly and helpful, and did a good job answering questions and getting the food out promptly. We tried several dishes including the hummus with pita bread, foul medamise, falafel, lamb kebabs, chicken shawarma and baklava for dessert. The use of seasoning is excellent, not a single thing was bland. The falafel and hummus tasted great, with lots of fresh herbs and garlic. The pita bread was a bit too charred for my taste, and I found the pistachio baklava to be different than I expected (more butter than honey flavor), but overall we had a great meal and would definitely go again. Portion sizes are another good thing to point out, since you can easily make two meals between entre and appetizer. I did not notice any tortillas being used instead of pita bread, so that seems to have been fixed.

Had a falafel to go today. IT WAS HORRIBLE. Wet mushy falafel balls with only lettuce and pickles No Sauce, No hummus and NO TASTE AT ALL, just awful textures wrapped up in a burrito tortilla. I had to throw it away. I called Sahara to complain and the woman at the front desk went back to talk to the manager. The manager said the cook remembers putting in everything but they would exchange it for me if I drove back. Honestly? Do you know anyone who would drive 10 miles for something so atrocious? AVOID THIS RESTAURANT!! We had a horrible meal here a few months back….it was not an anomaly!Everyday is a bad day for this cook!

Been eating at Sahara since I was a child. This is the only restaurant in Tallahassee with vaguely middle eastern food (the family who owns and operates it are Lebanese, hence the name), although the menu is mostly Greek. Family owned, the service is always excellent and despite the crowd, the wait is never too long. The menu isn’t particularly large but key Greek favorites are represented. Every time I go it seems they are improving something about the establishment (new menu’s, additional options). I’d recommend if you’ve yet to go trying the chicken shawarma. The red lentil soup is also my personal favorite.

Really delicious food and a friendly / hilarious waitstaff made this a wonderful late lunch on our way back home. We had the hummus, falafel, mujaddara, tilapia, and the mixed grill (lamb kebab, kufta, and chicken) and everything was just wonderful. One of the servers in particular had a really dry sense of humor and cracked us up.

Unfriendly staff. Told our yoga class we took up too many parking places, needed a large table and only ordered soup (not true). We gave them our business twice a week but no more. Too many great restaurants around to be treated rudely.

Heartbroken, Sahara is a shadow of its former self. My girlfriend and I had loved this place but this past month something has changed for the worse. Out of most of their more signature dishes on a regular basis and using tortilla bread instead of pita on their gyros and hummus dip plates, we don’t know what happened. After our third attempt we have given up for at least a good while.
