The chicken is charred and everything but the white meat, while the beef tastes like it came straight from Taco Bell. The salsa was bland and untextured, but the chips were great and so was the queso. Not a lot of other positives for this place, unfortunately.
Way better food than El Jalisco. This place is an institution in Tallahassee. I have been here with friends and family many times over the past twenty years. The food is always phenomenal and if you have any problems with any of it, they are more than happy to fix it immediately. The complimentary, fresh chips and salsa provided while you wait for your food are not over-salted and not too hot for the kids to enjoy. The prices on the menu vary from $3.50 to $13.00 but I haven’t had anything that wasn’t excellently prepared and the portions are quite large. I, and even my husband, always need a box for my leftovers.The atmosphere is relaxed and hospitable with classic Mexican flair. All of the wait staff is courteous and eager to make your experience the best it can be. The owner is a kind and happy man that is very good with faces. Dining here will feel like having dinner at a friend’s home in no time.The only time I have ever had to wait or felt the slightest neglected, our poor waiter was new and the other waiters quickly jumped in to help him out. Our experience didn’t suffer at all.I highly recommend San Miguel for all your Mexican food cravings!
It’s inexpensive and has decent portions. You aren’t going to find authentic Mexican in Tallahassee, but this as good as most of the others but costs less. the salsa did not have any heat, of course, but in Tally that goes without saying.
Awful experience!! I have been eating here for 10 years and this was BY FAR the worst experience I have had. Steak cooked till crisp, slow service, and worst of all NO TEQUILA IN THE DRINKS. Literally. Just powdered sour mix that they didn’t even bother to fully mix. It was lumped up at the bottom of the pitcher. We ended up ordering tequila shots to add to the drinks just so they would actually taste like margaritas! Was expecting good experience but am VERY disappointed 🙁
Good food. Fast service. Friendly staff. What more could I ask for? I’ll go back again soon.
Bad Margarita. This was one of the saltiest margaritas I’ve ever had. Just went for drinks and snacks, so I can’t really comment on the meals here.
Excellent value. Fresh ingredients.. Popped in for lunch. Low prices had me wondering about the quality. I was not disappointed. Generous portions. Fresh ingredients. Quick turnaround. Not fancy, but simple, freshly made, and flavorful.I am not a meat-eater and usually shy away from mexican restaurants for lack of options. This place has a lot more options than plain quesadillas. Love the enchiladas in tomatillo sauce.Bonus: guacamole salad had an unexpected, but pleasant little bite of jalapeno. Nice touch.
