Ideal Lunch for downtown Tally. The food here is truly wonderful! The menus rotate weekly and so do different delicious specials, but you are guaranteed to have a difficult time choosing between several great weekly options. It has a very open, laid back atmosphere that is a nice break in the work day, especially if you work downtown like I do and can just walk over. I think one of the best bargains is to go with a half sandwich and cup of soup, or to get a panini. Today I tried something that sounded a little interesting, a roasted pork and pear panini (AMAZING) that was so big I had to take half of that badboy to-go, and I look forward to having the rest of it for another meal soon. I have had several blissful lunches here whether I had a special salad, seafood shrimp gumbo, philly cheestake, etc. I highly recommend trying the French Silk Pie next time blue week menu rotates in. IT WILL MAKE YOUR LIFE BETTER by simply having tasted its decadence.Also remember it’s cash or check only, or you will waste lunch break time running over to the atm across the street for cash. I don’t usually gush over places like this, but this a sweet place that I believe to be underrated and really under the radar since it is only open weekday lunch.
Simply amazing! There’s a huge variety of foods each week and this week my group and I got a roasted veggie sub, pulled pork sandwich, Italian sub and a grilled turkey, ham and bacon sandwich. We finished every inch of food while trying very hard not to lick the baskets. Even our sides of homemade potato salad, pita chips and sausage and corn chowder were beyond delectable. For incredibly decently priced food that you will NEVER be disappointed with check out The Lively Cafe!
Cash/Check Only!. After you walk in, you stand in line until you come to a table with menus where two nice ladies take your order. Instead of handing the order to the kitchen, however, they hand it back to you while you stand in line some more. When you get to the counter they take your order, you pay and they prepare it then. Also, they don’t have it advertised anywhere, but they only take cash or checks! Just warning you so you don’t wait in line 20 minutes to find that out and have wasted all your lunch hour for no food.
Great lunch!. This is my favorite place to stop in and get a quick lunch during the week. I really like the fact that the menu rotates each week….there are several things on each menu that I enjoy, so the only difficult thing is deciding between them. Best soups around. I love the panini sandwiches…..they have some interesting ones and some great specials.
Unique food and atmosphere. This is such a great find; one of Tallahassee’s best kept secrets! I love the sandwiches and salads, but the weekly soups and vegetarian specials are my favorites. Everything is homemade and it shows.
Delicious. St. John’s Lively Cafe is that wonderful mix of elegant food with that cozy, homemade touch, complete with the kind volunteers taking your orders. I wish I could go there even more than I get to.
Lovely place to eat a good lunch. Food is always delicious and fresh. Can get in and out in less than an hour…great for working people. Highly recommend and fits any budget
