My mother is SOUTHERN so she likes old-school soul food. This place is her favorite in town. I find it a bit heavy in the unhealthy food, but she finds it devine. The atmosphere is clean and attractive. The staff are always friendly. If you like southern buffets, this is the one in Tallahassee. But, it is not for the vegan purr healthy crowd.

Tried wilderness cabin cafe a couple of weeks ago, standard buffet fare, not the best or worse I’ve ever had, some of the meat portions were scrawny. All the animal heads on the walls really creeped out the wife, so doubt we’ll be back

Not impressed! Sloppy buffet food. Salad bar is more of a macaroni salad bar. Sugar in almost all the veggies. Who puts sugar is squash? Fried chicken is good and the Mac n cheese. Unhealthy as it gets. If you want a better southern food experience go to O’Neals in Thomasville, GA.

Scrumptious!. A little disorganized opening week but the fried catfish was fresh, hot and crispy. Peach cobbler was excellent and loved the array of veggies.

Was not impressed. Food was not that good for the price.

Good food but a little on the expensive side. I ate there Sunday afternoon. The food was good, most specially the veg’s. I’m not sure what restaurant concept they are wanting to establish. You have what appears to be fine plates, silverware and real napkins – a plus , but what is the purpose for self-service. The food was expensive at $13.99 for buffet and extra for a drink. I heard that it was all homemade, maybe it is, but some food tasted great while other food was okay. I heard that the lunch buffet during the week was $8.99, but don’t quote me on that. It is worth $9 but not sure about the $14 for buffet – with no steak!!! Give it a try….you may like it!!

Not sure it was worth the 10 year wait.. After 10 years of this building sitting unoccupied – we were ready to see what this place had to offer.. so we gave the cafe a shot – one week after opening. While the interior is very cool (think Bass pro meets Aspen ski lodge), the size of the buffet and its offerings didn’t impress. For $15 (drink/food & tip) I expected a little better. To the food- the fried chicken- apparently you have to ask your server for white meat during peak times. So dark meat it was. The breading was odd. It tasted like a seafood breading – like on friend shrimp. Not my thing. A friend I ran into there also said the same thing. Grilled pork chops we fine. The veggies were great. What’s up with trying to pay to get out of there. The register, is in the same area as the buffet causing one giant traffic jam. People everywhere. And if not paying cash, you had to go around other people to another table to sign the receipt. Hopefully this is temporary – as it was very poorly designed. All in all, not sure this will be a regular place for us.
