Authentic Szechuan food… delicious and spicy!. My new favorite restaurant… and it is close to me! What more could I ask for! I love authentic foods in different cuisines, and often have to prepare them at home to get the authenticity and flavors I crave. I love REAL Sweet and Sour sauce (Cantonese) and not the red lollipop crap you get at many Americanized restaurants. I adore real Mexican food…. and it is hard to find. Same for Szechuan style of cooking… in the US, it is hard to find a restaurant that does it justice. Many Americans do like the heat that typical in this cuisine, and many of the ingredients and flavors may seem odd also.Fushia does an excellent job with the Szechuan dishes they prepare. They are some of the most authentic I have had in the US. The food is full of flavor, well prepared, and the portion sizes are more than adequate. They will tone down the heat for those who don’t care for it… and will cater to your tastes (within reason). I would avoid any of the non Szechuan dishes just based on reading all of the other reviews (although I have not tried them, and probably wont), and because this IS a Szechuan restaurant… and you should try what they do best!Try the Ma Po Tofu… it is a wonderful blend of Chili Oil, Black bean sauce, ground pork and tofu cubes. So full of flavor! The Beef with Red Peppers is delicious, and you will have plenty for lunch the next day!The Double Cooked Pork Belly is like overdosing on bacon… so good! The Lazi Chicken (both versions) … heavenly! I prefer the Chongging style Lazi Chicken myself.. less breading… so crispy and tasty.I recommend the Hot and Sour Soup… very goodEverything I have had here was delicious, and the service is stellar also. Sharon (hostess) is friendly and helpful… as are all the staff! Break out of your rut… and try something you have probably never had before. This place is a treat for anyone that has working taste buds! have fun!22 Jan, 2015Ma Po Tofu. Tofu in a hot chili oil and black bean sauce. Spicy and delicious!
Real Szechuan/Sichuan Food in Tampa!. Sichuan is my favorite type of food, and I was very surprised to find a restaurant in Tampa. What you want to order are the spicy sichuan dishes, like sliced fish or beef in special hot sauce (which is the typical yummy chili oil broth filled dish), whole fish w/ chili sauce, double cooked pork (pork belly… It’s basically stir fried bacon! YUM!), and even just simple sounding things like spicy chicken breast stir fry has been full of healthy chicken, vegetables, and flavorful spice. Portions are large for the money. One dish with some extra rice the secnod day usually makes two meals for me and I’m a big eater. As for the negatives…. Please note, if you are coming to this restaurant to get anything but Sichuan food, it seems pretty mediocre. That’s the typical curse of chinese restaurants–the ones that do real chinese well do not do Americanized junk well. That means all of you guys who are looking for general tso’s chicken (get the chinese lazi chicken instead!!!) or beef and broccoli… Go to any americanized chinese restaurant, they’re all the same. Try something different for once! The dim sum was just ok, the xiao long bao which I were very excited about had overly thick skins and were pretty dry on the inside, they overextend by offering all sorts of other asian foods (why???), and really they don’t even have a menu full of the usual Sichuan staples (it would not be hard at all to add dan dan noodles to your menu guys…). My advice to them would be to double down on the real chinese and make it more accessible and understandable to the trove of inquisitive college students, transplants from parts of the country that have more sichuan food, or just adventurous eaters. i.e. There is a board full of Chinese dishes at the entrance that they don’t and won’t translate for people who don’t speak Chinese :(. For the foodies, this is one of the few places to know in Tampa.
Authentic Asian cuisine in Tampa!. This is the type of place that you find in San Francisco Chinatown or NYC. A great find in Tampa. Excellent food and service in an unassuming facility.
Great food and service! I live nearby and frequently eat here. The food is amazing and the servers are very nice and funny. I highly recommend it!
Had been there for a lunch with couple friends. The miso soup is a bowl of water, the spring roll tasted disgusting, a weird smell, and I trashed it. I order a Sichuan spicy Shrimp. The dish has 4 shrimps! The black fungus look like rotten already. The young lady with a cap sucks, and very rude to argue with us for a $2/bottle water loudly when we complained the price.
Not that great. We went here for Chinese food hoping for something different. I thought maybe this place will at least be decent. I was wrong. Our appetizers and soups were not great and I think some of the appetizers were frozen and not fresh at all. When I got our entrees I was really disappointed the food did not taste that great, it was ok and I ordered a spicy dish (even said it was spicy) and it was not spicy at all, which kind of ruined the meal for me. The staff was friendly. I did not like the atmosphere and the place was really quiet. I don’t think I will be going back here.
The Other Chinese Crusine. Most people when eating out are tasting the Cantonese Style. Fushia is one of the few that offer Szechuan. Think Iron Chef Chinese. Szechuan has a lot of spicy dishes versus savory and sweet. When I have a yearning for spicy Chinese this is the place I go. My favorite dish is the La Zi Chicken. If you like a little spice this is the dish to try. This is one of my top 3 Chinese restaurant after China Yuan and Chopstix.
