First timer, LOVE this place! Pet friendly!. I’ve read mixed reviews, so initially I was going to go to rusty bellies, BUT… Rusty bellies are NOT pet friendly. Hubby and I bring our four legged kids most places. So I called here and they welcome pets so we gave it a shot. Glad we did! Now we not only have another waterfront pet friendly restaurant to go to, but a sports bar as well for our Packer games! Double bonus! Tony was our waiter and he could not have been nicer and more accommodating, but absolutely EVERYONE was super nice…maybe it was because we have the cutest Chihuahuas in the world*) but maybe they are just all really nice young folks! Refreshing! That all said, they had to deal with a tough crowd; I, being from Wisconsin where everybody smiles, says hi, chats with you, many of these patrons were cold as ice! Definitely NOT from Wisconsin, or Florida for that matter. I really felt sorry for the staff as well as the band. I would have liked to see a bit larger portions on some dishes like the fish and chips and the prices are a bit above average, like $10 smoked fish spread? I thought $8.00 was expensive for a scoop of fish and some crackers, (that’s at another waterfront restaurant), but this is PRIME real estate after all and I’m sure all the lovely taxes are a B…H! Plus they have a dozen or more staff members on! We never waited for anything, the food came out quick and hot, hot, hot, and the seafood is fresh. We WILL be back! God bless!

Did’nt like dinner. $18.99 for a shrimp,fish, scallop combo plate. 1 small side of fish, 3 very small shrimp and 3 under cooked scallops. the combo was fininshed with a nasty tasting pile of cooked vegatables that covered half the plate. I will never eat a meal at capt jacks again. Over priced meals that are not prepaired well.
Unfortunate experience. Went to capt. Jacks because its pet friendly,I will say it’s a nice location and the wait staff are attentive. Everything goes downhill from there.food is not good by any standard.everybody in Florida should know the ingredients for a Cuban sandwich. Salami on a Cuban sandwich,are you kidding me?
Went with my husband and we both ordered the grouper sandwich. We both like grouper and I order it regularly at local restaurants. When our sandwiches arrived it looked nothing like grouper, way too thick of a fillet. Once we tasted it we were convinced it wasn’t grouper. Neither one of us could eat more than a couple of bites. We asked out waitress if we were brought another fish by mistake. She said she would go to the kitchen and ask. When she returned to our table we were told that it was fresh grouper and the reason it was thick was because the kitchen staff fillets it themselves. She offered to replace out meals with another menu item but we declined and said we were done. The waitress took both meals off the bill without us even asking. We will not be returning, we feel like we were lied to by the kitchen staff (I’m sure the waitress had no idea what she was serving) and owners of the restaurant.
I won’t come back. I love a place to eat where I can sit and relax on the water, but I also love good food, and this place doesn’t have that anymore. I ordered a burger med/well, it arrives mooing, almost raw. When I was finally able to get the waitress to complain, she returned back from the kitchen with the cook, who clearly had a MAJOR annoyed attitude, questioning me on WHY I sent my food back. The woman cook, insisted that I should have ordered WELL DONE, instead of med/well (ughhhhhhhhh), so with an attitude, she returned to the kitchen, and I waited 25 minutes for another burger. My husband had finished his meal, and sat and waited while I now ate mine. The service was terrible. Waitress asked if we wanted refills, we said yes, but she never returned with them. I even had to ask for a bottle of ketchup, which was another 10 minute wait.
Where is the Beer?. Captain Jacks has a great location and plenty of parking. The waterfront location makes for a terrific Florida experience. The wait staff is average to slightly better than most casual dining places and so is the food. The patrons seem harmless enougha thirties to fifties crowd just out to relax and enjoy the evening. Now for the unfortunate…the beer selection. Captain Jacks serves nothing but NASCAR beer. My husband and I enjoy a good microbrew selection with IPAs, Scottish ales, imperial stouts, etc. The lack of good beer at Captain Jacks will prevent us from going there very often, or maybe ever again.
