This was our third visit to Currents, and spouse and I were once again impressed with the restaurant’s charming and relaxed atmosphere, delicious cooked-to-order home-style cuisine, and very friendly service. For starters, we shared a scrumptious app of mussels in a parmesan-garlic cream sauce followed by a very fresh house salad dressed with a piquant house dressing. Spouse ordered pork tenderloin which was prepared medium-rare, as ordered and was accompanied by delicious mashed potatoes and vegetables. My entree, filet of chicken breast was very tender and served with an excellent Hunter’s sauce, accompanied by wild rice and wonderfully braised brussel sprouts. We both enjoyed their refreshing sangria and topped off our dinner with Current’s decadent chocolate bread pudding.
Waited 30 minutes without any service. Very unusual for them.
Disappointing. Had high hopes for a nice seafood restaurant nearby but was disappointed. Service was slow bot not a big issue. We had to ask for some bread as we were on our second glass of wine with no food delivered yet. I ordered the bouillabaisse and it came with no mussels as the menu said. I was told they were out. 7 clams, 2 shrimp and a small piece of grouper for $27. Get real. The sauce was tomato based so not even a real bouillabaisse. Next time we will make the drive to Mystic Fish.
Currently, my favorite (pardon the pun). Really love this place. Have never been disappointed. Excellent chef. Was proud to bring my out of town guest to Currents. We loved the Shrimp and Grits starter and entree Champagne Grouper. House salad and flourless chocolate cake with a touch of cayenne pepper were also amazing. Menu is very gluten free friendly. You don’t have to guess.
Loved it!! Great Marsala Chicken!! Will go again soon.
While I have been here many times for dinner, this was my very first time to visit at lunch. It absolutely will not be my last! If you are in downtown Tarpon Springs, and eating lunch anywhere else, you may just be settling for second best! The service here is equally as stellar!
The Cesar salad was dry, asked for more dressing, they use dried parm on it so it had clumps of this, and they use old sub rolls as unseasoned croutons. Dressing was tasty but it stayed with me for hours later. Surprise. Surprise. i found the croutons came from the same type of roll my French dip was made with. The meat tasted irony but the au jus was ok. it looked like a gravy on top at first them your stirred it. (needed salt and was heavy peppered) Asked if I wanted it to go but I declined. It wasn’t worth the energy to repurpose that sandwhich. The dessert was tasty but they shave vanilla bean on the bottom, the waitress said, but it added very little flavor and looked like bad…really bad when you look at the bottom. None was in the custard so just black specs all over the bottom. Overall I rate it a 5 out of 10. They need fresher ingredients for sure. Maria, the waitress was very nice but service was a tad slow considering the amount of clients. The booths are uncomfortable and slant downward for some odd reason.28 Feb, 2013The food wasn’t even average. Drinks are $2.40 and I had a lunch special that was not special at all.
