Very Good. Two friends and myself went today for lunch. I had the Filet Mignon, grilled veggies, fried rice, ice tea for $16.00 and it was excellent. Everything was seasoned perfectly, the meat tender and all cooked to the right amount of crispiness. I would go back in a heartbeat. The service was good also, but is it just me, but I don’t like when a waitress or waiter asks if I want change back. Just bring me the change and we’ll go from there. But all in all a very good meal and experience.
🙁 Good food and service, ruined by the closing cleanup.. Wow, the food was good and the service was fine. But, we were the few customers that was last to eat before closing. The employees started cleaning the Hibachi grills with hot powerful smelling soap and the fume smell from the soap ruined our dinner, also the employees were sweeping the floors. We felt rushed to eat and when I got home my hair smelled like the soap they were heating to clean the grills. Made me sick. I would suggest they wait until the dinning room was clear of guest to do their final clean for the night.
Constant Quality. People that don’t understand what a Japanese Steakhouse is in America should probably be warned that it’s normal for the following things to happen:1) It’s community seating around the grills.2) If you don’t go in a large party, your table will not be served until it’s full. At least at dinner; I’ve seen partial tables served when it’s slow in some restuarants.3) Everyone’s food is cooked at once by a chef who’s trained not only in this particular style of cooking (Teppen Yaki), but to entertain you as well. If you want a quick, regular dining experience, don’t eat at a Japanese Steakhouse. That said…I’ve never had a bad experience here. The staff is always welcoming and the sushi (what I normally get) is quite good for the area.
Not good. The food has always been good…..however, after having a complaint when there was a delay in picking up an order in January (meal for 6 at $74) we arrived to pick up our dinner the hot food was ready but we had to wait 15 minutes for the sushi. I voiced concern to John, the owner, that our meals were getting cold as we were waiting for the rest of our order and that we had a 15 minute drive home he was very apologetic and said that the next time we came in he would make it right. On February 28, 2012, we decided to take him up on his offer and I called in the same order (I kept the receipt from the January order so there was no dispute in how much food we had previously paid for) and explained that John said that he would take care of our meal the next time I came in. I arrived to pick up the order with my mother and John was definitely not the same nice person as before. He insisted that I check the entire meal to make sure I was satisfied and that he didn’t want me calling him again about the food. I asked for ginger sauce and he not so nicely slammed it on the counter. When I checked the meals I could tell right away the portion sizes were nothing like the 20 previous times my husband and I and our kids have eaten at Kiku, they were much smaller….about 4 bites of salad and a considerable difference in the main meal portion. I cannot complain about the quality of the food as it was good but the way we were treated by John was unacceptable…..I guess he was mad that I actually took him up on his offer to make our previous situation right! All in all I will more than likely take my business back to Lampu as not to be treated with disrespect from John again, especially in front of a couple who witnessed my whole interaction with John while they sat at the bar.
NOT JAPANESE FOOD. I’m so sorry to give such a bad review, but this was the worst dining experience I have ever had. First, they wait until an entire table is seated to serve you. That is a table that surrounds a Japanese cook, where he makes food in front of you. We sat there for 45 minutes in complete confusion — waiting. Finally, the cook comes and we are served. It was terrible, no flavor at all, white rice and soy sauce??? It was gross for lack of a better word; we didn’t even eat beyond three bites, and left. There is no skill, no flavor, and unless you are a heavy drinker — I would not recommend. AVOID and BE WARNED!
Entertaining and the food is great. Full bar which is nice if you’d like to have a cocktail before dinner. The beef, shrimp, lobster and chicken is always fresh and the chefs prepare everything perfectly every time. Generous portions and great service. The whole family loves it.
I agree Kiku is awesome it’s not over price.
