One Happy Customer. Man, think about all your options in this section of Hillsborough County, LUPTON’s wins hands down. Not to mention how much they give back to the community continuously. The Lupton family has been an institution in Temple Terrace for more than 35 years. The food is great and you know you will be cared for when you attend one of their locations because there is someone who cares behind what they cook. Stop there every chance you get and make dinner worth while. Eat at Luptons, its AWESOME!
Genuine southern and soul food. The best time to visit Lupton’s is late Saturday morning just before the breakfast buffet transitions into lunch; that way you get the best of both worlds. Breakfast: Love the steak nuggets, smoked sausage, cheese grits, hashbrowns, and homefries. Lunch and Dinner: Fried okra, chicken and dumplings, authentic mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, Brunswick stew, greens, butterbeans, and all of the meat (ribs, chicken, pork, beef; you name it). I’ ve never had a bad experience here; the food is good, the wait staff is courteous, and the prices are fair.
The best kept secret in tampa. Wow me and the girlfriend stumbled onto google looking for a buffet better then golden corrall or one of the chinese things around town…i found luptons…we debated about driving the distance because were on erlich and anderson so its a 20 mile drive thru town…..FREAKIN happy we did…its been 3 weeks now and weve been like 5 or 6 times…lmao…the food is amazing…i havent tried one thing there that i didn not absolutly thouroughly enjoy greatly…down home cooking…downhome employees…ralph and nancy lupton are always there on site and interact with the customers and make you feel like family…2 adult buffets with a tea $22.02…you WILL NOT FIND BETTER FOOD or better prices
Fantastic Buffett. I live in Orlando and with so many buffetts offered there, I have always found it hard pressed to find a buffett that was truly outstanding. Lupton’s Fat Man’s BBQ was everything that I imagined and more. Upon first impression, its not what you would imagine. Its an older place, but I enjoy that because it provides an authentic experience and not some fancy restaurant that tries to cover up their lack of cooking skills with flash and decorations. I absolutely enjoyed the ribs, the collard greens, the candied yams….hell, I enjoyed everything that was on my plate. Its too bad that I cant eat like a giant or I would have sampled every single entree that they had to offer. I love this place. Since I am currently deployed overseas I cant help but to look forward to my next R&R so that I can eat at this fantastic buffett. Please go here…..you will not regret it.
My 30 year secret. THE SECRET.Why is there only 4 postings for this great place!!! Us regulars are keeping this one for ourselves. Lupton’s doesn’t advertize or coupon so you may never know about this gem. And we don’t tell and this is why. The place is busy and we don’t want any more people in our way as we go up to the buffet. More than once we have failed to stop to eat because the place was to busy. So if we keep it a secret we will be able to get to the delicious buffet. Or if we did stop we wait in line to get through the buffet line. Avoid going at prime lunch or dinner times. Now about the place.THE FOODThis is a all you can eat buffet.BBQ, Soul Food, Salad Bar, Soups and Desserts. And a Taco Bar. Why a Taco Bar, I am not sure. It’s not for me. Not with all that Q up there.Ribs are long bones with tips on and a dry rub that is slitely sweet, salty, and darn delicious. Very meaty, moist and tender. Yesterday the best I ever had their in over 30 years. Infact the best ribs I had in Florida this winter so far and that includes Uncle Rodney’s which his are really great. They have BBQ Smoked Chicken that is so smokey it is just what bbq is all about. And then there is the thin sliced smoked pork and beef. Both moist tender and so good you will love it. Put on grilled garlic bread with one of their several different kinds of bbq sauces and you will eat till your stuffed. Add coleslaw to it if you want because there is a salad bar with lots of different choices.The soul food is also not too be leftout of this meal. The collard greens with smoked pork hocks is a must. The mashed potatoes are real and the beef gravy is the second best in the USA. I know!! Mashed potatoes and gravy when all the delicious smoked meats you can eat is waiting for you. But the potatoes and that gravy here is a must have. Many other great choices BBQ Baked Beans, Sweet Potatoes, Seasoned Green Beans that are a soul food must. Smoked saugage with peppers and onions. And the home made soups, chili, and brunswick stew. This is not a full list but some of my favorites. Now the Strawberry Short Cake is another favorite. You fix it yourself just the way you like it. Oh Yaaa!!! Other desserts are icecream with toppings for sundae’s, bread pudding, apple bake, and sometimes cakes. But loving BBQ like I do, desserts are seldom.AtmosphereSelfserve Buffet. Mostly booths with a few tables. Large model airplanes hang from the ceiling. Rustic, somewhat crowded and noisey, not fancy by any means. Does have alcohol available. Lita does a good job of clearing your plates away. She has been their for years. The Price is unbeatable. Lunch prices, early bird prices, senior prices, and dinner prices. The most you will pay is just a little over $10.00 and includes ice tea. And now you know.I should not of told you about this secret place having decades of regulars but I have been shelfish long enough.
