Came for lunch on a beach Sunday. It was a cute little place. Their specialty is homemade potato chips, but when they came out they were smelling and tasting fishy, not very good. We had chicken fingers, frozen deep fried, a cheesesteak was ok, Santa Fe wrap was ok. The BEST ITEM BY FAR was grouper Reuben.
I’m sorry to say that we have been eating at the Red Onion since it opened its original location on beachside. We have always found the the grouper Reuben sandwich to be one of our favorites. Lately however not only has the price gone up by 50 percent – it’s now a 15 dollar sandwich – on at least four occasions we have found the fish to be less than fresh and the batter to be so salty as to be inedible. Nonetheless, we keep going back with hopes that we will have that original delicious grouper Reuben that first caused us to become fans way back when it first opened! We also highly recommend the vegetarian pea soup and some of the other sandwiches such as the Gobbler, although once again the prices have really skyrocketed lately and for this reason we are finding ourselves less frequent visitors.
