I honestly do not understand the rave reviews for this *Italian* restaurant, including the always positive restaurant review by our local newspaper that was just published today. I wonder if I am going to the same restaurant as everyone else? First, the atmosphere is extremely loud & the tables are so close together that it is impossible to carry on a conversation with your dining companions. Second, you have to walk past the kitchen or through the cramped dining room to get to the tiny bathrooms which have been unclean on each of my half-dozen visits. Third, the service from start to finish is subpar. Also with regard to these up charges, what is with that? No matter what you do or change on the menu, they somehow managed to add quite a bit of money to your final bill, so that no matter what you order (even specials) , you will not get out of there for less than $100 per couple if you order any wine and/or coffee or dessert. I could go on and on about my dissatisfaction with the service and food at this restaurant, but I can sum it up in this way: no authentic Italian restaurant would offer you the option of switching penne pasta, angel hair pasta, linguine or spaghetti when being served a seafood dish. Italian chefs understand that each shape of pasta is created for a particular type of sauce, such as seafood. You would never, ever, serve clam sauce with penne pasta for example. This is basic Italian dining 101. I was rather upset about this blatant faux pas and pointed it out to my waiter who claimed to be from Italy and supposedly spoke with an Italian accent. He acted like he did not know what I was talking about. Either he was faking it and was not actually from Italy or he was just making it up, but either way, this is NOT authentic Italian cuisine. And at these prices, you would be far better served in Vero Beach to go to the Italian Grill at the Ryan wood Plaza, corner of 58th street and route 60. Please know I am NOT related to anybody that works or owns either of these establishments, I’ve just lived in Vero Beach for more than 20 years and I’m really sick and tired of people exaggerating the greatness of the scampi grill. The emperor has no clothes is a good analogy, IMHO.

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner Friday night. Arrived around 8:00 with no reservation and were immediately offered a table on the patio. Still full inside even at this late hour (for Vero). We enjoyed the $50 couples dinner which included two courses and a bottle of wine. This has to be one of the best summertime deals at a fine resturant. I had the calimari for the 1st course which was tender and well prepared. My wife stared with a salad. For the main course I chose the Shrimp Imperial which was excellent. Several large shrimp in a tomato base over pasra. My wife chose the Bolognese which she enjoyed. Both large portions and served by a friendly professional waiter. A definate return for fine Italian.

Arrived without reservations and lucky to get table. My wife had the Chicken Franchese. She loved it. I had the Veal with olive oil, garlic, herbs, tomatoes and pasta. This is got to be the best restaurant in Vero Beach. The food is absolutely phenomenal and the staff is very attentive and knowledgeable. It is a family run business and the quality the food is out of this world!!

Dont wait like I did to experience this restaurant. For many years we talked about giving the Scampi Grill a try. Finally one Friday night we took the plunge. After the entree’s arrived we looked at each other and said why did we wait so long to come here. The staff and food are outstanding! They understand hospitality and want everyone to have a great experience. This is certainly our #1 Restaurant in Vero Beach!
