Actually reasonable prices for the wharf…wow! Superb shoestring french fries at large portion, very good chicken tenders, ok burger. Special sauce is basically same as McDonalds, thin Thousand Island and nothing special about it. Look forward to trying aMr.Sprinkles massive burger to win a T – shirt if I complete it. Kitchen was very slow, but our sweet waitress gave the kids ice cream to compensate.
Horrible service – hostage situation. Let me start by saying I have never written a review for any place. The service at this establishment was so horrible I felt it was necessary to warn the public. Friends have raved about how great the burgers, shakes and chicken tenders are this place. I can’t really dispute that. The food was good. The service however was by far the worst I have ever experienced. Starting with the hostess. She kept mumbling so we couldn’t hear a word she was saying. Eventually we heard her say we could sit inside or outside. It really just depended on how fast we wanted to be served. What?!? Naturally we said we wanted to sit wherever we would receive service the fastest. She showed us to our table but didn’t give us menus. We waited approximately 10 minutes before she realized we didn’t have menus. Shortly after receiving the menus our server appeared. We placed our drink and food order all at once. We didn’t wait long and our food was brought out. Apparently getting water was more difficult then getting the food. We had to wait a little longer before getting our drinks. We enjoyed the meal. Our server checked on us once. No major deal…we don’t need or like a lot of attention. We work in the service industry so we know how tough it can be at times. We told her we were done and wanted our check. Apparently that is when the hostage situation began. We waited….and waited…and waited some more. How long does it take to bring someone their check? After about 15 minutes we approached the hostess to ask her for it. She said we had to wait for our server. We let her know we were not upset but simply wanted to pay so that we could depart. She went inside for a little bit and then came back out only to completely ignore us again. We waited a little longer. Eventually our server came back out to deliver food to someone else. She gave us our bill and we were ready with the cc. Big mistake! We should have had cash. We waited for at least another 15 minutes before the cc was brought back. Are you making a copy of the card? Why would it take 30 minutes to receive and pay a bill? Don’t you want me to leave so that you can clear the table for the next guests? Holding us hostage only loses you money. You have lost the opportunity to service someone else and now I will tell every person I know not to eat at your diner. I honestly feel like you knew the level of service was so poor that you decided it was better to continue to ignore us then to address the issue. There was no adjustment on our bill and no apology. I will not return or recommend this place to anyone even if it is free.
Sloppy, inattentive, and rude. We never got to try the food because no one would wait on us. We were seated for 15 minutes or so without a word of greeting from our server or an offer of water. In the meantime he chatted up guests who were seated after us, and brushed against my chair while getting drinks and food for the table behind us–still not saying a word or giving me a chance to catch his attention without being obnoxious. It’s possible he may not have even been our waiter, but we’ll never know. It’s not like the hostess was paying any attention to what was happening. And the place wasn’t even busy! We gave up and left and won’t go back–ever. There are too many other places in the area that are happy to get your business without the hassle. We had a good meal at the Acme Oyster House after leaving Hartell’s. We were promptly seated and served with a smile. Our waitress was quick with refills and our food.
