So… I hate leaving reviews like this, but today I find myself with no choice. This morning, two friends and I met for brunch at 11:15. We put our names on the list, signed up for the text, and waited. There was no where to sit because of the construction and the hotel preparing for an event, so we stood in this crazy October heat and chatted. At 11:40, my friend got the text and we went inside. This was the first strike for the hostess. I said that we had received the text and she asked for the name. I gave her my friends first name and she said she didnt have it. I gave her my friends first and last name, and she laughed and sarcastically asked if we had received one or two text. I said one. She said that was just the intro text and wed have to go back out and wait. We laughed it off and headed back outside. There was a table that had been empty since we arrived and one of my friends has severe arthritis in both of her hips, so she sat at the table. After about 5 minutes the hostess came outside and asked us to move. She said that we would need to go sit in the sun near the pool and wait like everyone else. She didnt say anything to the couple at the table next to us that was doing the same and her tone was less than friendly. About 5 minutes after this event, I notice the hostess over near a large table where two toddlers are sitting. She pulled the large 6 top table away from toddlers and simply stated, oh sorry sweetie while the toddlers started to cry from being startled by the noise and the quick movement of the table moving out from under them. She never spoke to the parents or checked on the babies. At that point we left. It was nearly noon and there was no end to the wait or her rudeness insight. What this lady missed is that we were locals. That the 3 of us have lived in this area forever. That we run small businesses and have friends and family that we would have referred. I know you have over a 100 – 5 Star reviews. I hope this review means something and carries some value. As for my friends and I, we wont be back again.

Sunset Bay Cafe is a hidden gem in Sandestin. Don’t let the guard gate fool you! ANYONE can dine at Sunset Bay Cafe, and would be silly not to! They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner seasonally and all are worth a try. Favorites include Espanola Omelet, Breakfast Bagel, Benedicts and MORE! The Bloody Marys are the size of the average human head, and award winning! Outside of the amazing menus, SBC offers KILLER views of the bay. Run, don’t walk to Sunset Bay Cafe.
