Better location, inferior food. Tub Tim had great food at their old location but since they have moved to the new place the food has taken a back seat. The decor is good and location better although the tables are too close together. They are trying to cram together as many people as they can. I have been to the new place three times now and each time I ordered what used to be my favorite dish: stir fried ginger chicken. Each time the dish has become worse. Last night was the worst. The chicken was dry and spongy. It looked like the dish had been prepared a while ago. Sadly I will not be returning.
Really inferior. I went to Tub Tim 3 months ago. Had the peanut//chicken/vegetable dish. The chicken was grisly, rubbery, chewy, inferior quality, vial.Thinking this was a one time mistake, I returned last week and ordered the same dish. The chicken was again of such poor quality I couldn’t eat it; grisly, rubbery, truly substandard, and vial. I would not return to this restaurant for any reason. Where the hell do they get this inedible chicken from? By the way, after we waited 45 minutes after we ordered, the manager came over, apologized, said they had misplaced our order, and gave us a plate of some kind of cold string beans!21 Feb, 2015Really inferior. Good thai. Was good thai, I liked the saki and pad thai. Good service but a little more than expected for cost.
Good food, prompt service, slightly overpriced items. After their recent relocation, I wanted to give Tub Tim Thai a try as I have read a few of the other positive reviews and after they had a chance to settle into their new digs we pulled the trigger. Upon arrival I was impressed as the decor was very nice and the well maintained salt water aquarium was eye catching. We were promptly greeted and shown to a table (2 top) however my date and like to sit next together so we asked for another table which they were accommodating of. There tables are a little close together for my liking and kind of give that claustrophobic tone to me that can make dining awkward given you are so close in some locations to the table next to you. I was also pleased to see they had a L shaped sushi bar area. Service was prompt at taking our order and the waiter did a good job of explaining the restaurant and what they were about (he seemed to be the manager). We started off with a hot saki and some waters with an order of the green papaya salad. Browsing the menu I could see their prices were slightly higher than average but not outrageous. The green papaya salad took a bit to arrive but it was very good, mild on the garlic and no shrimp. They were able to bring extra spices on the side that I liked. I didn’t like how the silverware was on the table for the guest to grab which means someone could possibly group your utensils, this makes sense for the chop sticks that are packaged but not the tableware. I chose to go the traditional Pad Thai with Chicken (asked for them to make it as hot as they could) and I also ordered a spicy tuna roll to try their sushi. The Pad Thai was actually really good and came with a side of bean sprouts with a lime which I liked. As for heat it wasn’t too hot at all, maybe what I would call a 4 or 5 at best, but nothing about 10 spoons of thai chili couldn’t fix. The spicy tuna roll was actually pretty good and the fish appeared fresh and tasted well. Their sushi take out seems to be quite popular with those coming to pickup. Overall I enjoyed our visit to Tub Tim Thai and I am sure we will return or get take out, their prices were slightly higher than most but the service was prompt and friendly.
Good food, lousy service. Took 10 minutes to get our soup, another 15 for our food. Not good when you have kids. Also not good – very limited kids menu. My kids don’t like chicken teriyaki – the only chicken dish on the kids menu. I asked for simple breaded and fried chicken – like chicken katsu. What they brought was excellent – not greasy, very light and tasty. What they charged $15 per plate. I questioned the charge with the server and manager. They said it was a modified version of sweet and sour chicken and that they would not change the price. My wife and I shared an order of Pad Thai. It was excellent and was big enough that we still had leftovers. I’d go back but the bad service and bad attitude will keep me away.
Great Pad Thai & Massaman Curry are awesome – servers work hard – truly a hidden treasure!!!
Great Thai. We have tried several Thai Restaurants in the area. We always come back to this one. Not your typical Japanese-Chinese-Thai. Service is excellent. We love the Red Curry and Pad Thai.
