I have visited Tampa twice a year for sporting events for the last 10 years & nearly always go to Selmon’s. What has happened to this place? Our waiter was excellent but the food service as usual was very slow. The buffalo wings were good but chips with the Back Country nachos were stale – the cheese, meat, & okra in the nachos was one big stuck together lump. The stink of sour stale beer permeated the whole restaurant/bar. It makes us question the last time the bar was sanitized and the floors mopped. The sports bar area has become dated and run down looking. A major disappointment considering how good it used to be.
Mixed feelings.. The food was good but the service terrible. It was so bad our hot food was almost cold. We were two women and were largely ignored by our server who spent time with the next table of men. This actually happened twice! We saw the same thing happen with other nearby tables of women. So my conclusion is that this is a place that caters to men but for women, forget it.
Surprised we liked it so much!. I don’t know which was better…the food or the Bartenders/Servers???It was our first time and the food was really good. We enjoyed the Meatloaf ( reminded me of the middle of Stuffed Cabbage ), the Ribs, smashed potatoes and the Pull Pork was great. They brought out 4 different Bar B Que Sauces ( without having to ask for it and in individual cups ) and there was plenty to eat!We watched sports on the T.V.’s and everyone was friendly. What a surprisingly great tasting inexpensive meal!
Worst pulled pork BBQ. Staying at the Airport Hilton and decided to try Lee Roy Selmon’s for the first time. The pulled pork BBQ was the worst I’ve ever had. It wasn’t expensive and the service was good but I’d never go back.
HOLY SMOKES!. This place will knock your southern sock right off ya! we love it. fired green tomatos, meat loaf, friend chicken, grits & bacon, corn bread casserole, ribs, the house made bbq sauce on the pork is amazing!!! i cant say enough – if you love southern food – JUST GO!!!!!
Fried green tomatoes were good, but that’s about it. The server messed up our order then was reluctant to fix it. Then the food was somewhat greasy and the flavor wasn’t to great… Very disappointed… I will not be back!
Yummy!. 2 words—brisket nachos!!!!! SO GOOD! I love a lot of the things on their menu, but those are my favorite :). They also have really good salads when you’re in the mood for something a little lighter. Can’t wait for the Brandon location to open!!
