Busy Place. Matoi Sushi was recommended to us by a friend who knows we love sushi. When we pulled in there was NO parking, sucks for some but to us thats a good sign. We stood in the door way for a small eternity but thats ok. I did feel bad for some people there as they were in a large party and there are only a few tables that can handle a larger size. Thankfully it was just the two of us so we didnt have to wait as long as some did. The sushi was good and large in size. I think sushi is one of those things that everyone has their own opinion on its the best sushi in town, this was not MY best in town but it was very good. We shall keep trying all the recommendations we get even if I have found the one.

Happy hour drinks were 2 for 1 on Sake, house wine and beers till 8 PM. Pretty extensive menu and pretty fair on prices overall. Good crowd on hand and looked to be a lot of regulars. Ordered the shrimp tempura and veggie app and it was great. Four shrimp on this one vs. the usual two. Nice plate.Ordered some nigiri and wife got two rolls. All good.I also got a Bul Go Ki Hot Pot and it was great for $12.99. Some people told me it appeared to be Bibimbap based on my picture but menu said otherwise. Would order again for sure.Only annoyance here was the Mr. Big dude sitting at an adjacent table with his cell phone ringing and ordering everyone around like he owned the joint. You know it is annoying when my wife starts noticing. Trying to order half orders, don’t bring me those nasty vegetables……blah blah blah.We mostly ignored it but you can’t choose your table neighbors for the most part. Horrible korean food. I went to this restaurant monday and it was not a plesant experiance!! first the food is not authentic korean, it was garbage. the service was so bad it was laughable . sushi was not to bad but overpriced. take your business to one of the other korean sushi places they are much better.. do not go to this place!!!!
Best Sushi in Town. This place is by far the best sushi in Tampa. This place is always packed and for good reason. Sam and Steve put their all into making beautiful and delicious food. I personally am a HUGE fan of Korean food and it makes dinning options even better. We’ve dined here three times in about one month and we absolutely will not go any where else. Went to Matoi Sushi today and had some of the best sushi ever. Rolls were large portions and extremely fresh fish. Great service and great taste. If you are in Tampa and want good sushi make sure you go to Matoi.
Great food, good service. Food was great, service was good. Enough said. Fresh fish is what you want.
I eat here as often as possible. I have been going here for MANY years and the food and service from Sam the owner has always been awesome! For best service, sit at the sushi bar area and say hello to the owner/manager Sam, he’s the best! <3
