Very hip vibe inside this small place. The Music and setting creates a youthful atmosphere. Lots of wine options and the menu is a fusion of South American and Spanish influences for the American appetite. Ordered their Mighty Renzo sandwich with beef. Comes with bacon and egg, cheese/ quite a sandwich.
The meats are very good cooked and seasoned. The chimichurri sauce are the perfect combination for the meats. Don’t confuse with the restaurant layout. Looks more than a cafeteria than a restaurant but the food is the important thing on this. I recommend for sure!!
Pros: Mighty Renzo sandwich was really good and the Renzo Panino was a nice, mild, fresh sandwich. The house special desert is Chaja- a cake with cream, fruit and nuts. It was delicious.Cons: Fried Yucca was under cooked and bland. French fries were undercooked, bland and clearly from a bag. Canole was stale.
Authentic parrillada. Excellent parrillada , love the Argentinian sausageBe back soon
One of my lunch favorites. The Picanha and Entraa sandwiches are amazing every…single…time. These sandwiches are elegant in their simplicity. Perfectly grilled skirt or sirloin with lettuce, tomato, and mayo on a crusty baguette. Cuts up the roof of your mouth a little, but after the first bite, you won’t even mind. These two are the stars of the show, hands down. But there’s other items worth mentioning. The assorted grilled meat platters aren’t cheap, but are worth every cent. Anything grilled at Renzo’s is going to be a solid choice. The empanadas are good. Crispy pastry, never dry, and never skimpy on the filling. The chorizo and salchicha make for a superb appetizer. The chimichurri doesn’t hurt either. The flan and tiramisu are consistently good. Maybe not phenomenal, but always good.
Now that’s a sandwich!!. I was told by a friend of mine that I needed to try Renzo’s next time I was in Tampa… so I did. I stopped in for lunch and was greeted and seated promptly. The staff was very friendly and the establishment is very clean. They do a good job of making you feel like you’re at a nicer steak and wine place, even though they’re in a tiny stripmall-like building.I decided to go with one of the sandwiches and ended up choosing the Mighty Renzo. This sandwich is monstrous, both in size and flavor. It comes with grilled beef tenderloin, ham, bacon, fried egg, cheese, mayo, tomato, lettuce, red peppers, and green olives. The tenderloin was cooked perfectly; it had a juicy, red center. The ingredients were fresh and I really liked what the green olives added to the flavor profile. This is probably a heart attack waiting to happen, but I don’t care, it’s frickin’ delicious! Suffice it to say, I was only able to eat half of the sandwich. My server actually told me this was the norm, but I thought I could muster through it… I was wrong. At least it made for a great breakfast the next day.I’ll definitely be back to Renzo’s again. Hopefully I can make it for dinner service with a friend or two and try one of the table-side grill selections with a nice bottle of red wine.
Overall, pretty good…. Stopped in for a late lunch on a weekday. The place is small but very clean. The wait staff was very polite and attentive. Our group shared some dishes including the empanada appetizer, sausage sampler, picanha and milanese followed by a dessert. The empanadas were okay but served at room temperature. Dont know what happened here but we moved along to the sausage sampler. The sausages were all pretty tasty Argentine style chorizo and/or linguica. The entrees were all nicely done and not overly salted which is pretty common at restaurants of this type. We finished with a chocolate mousse which was lovely. My only complaints would be the cold empanadas and I’ll go ahead and say that the chimichurri at Renzo’s is surprisingly bland. A bit of a letdown honestly.Overall, a good spot to drop in and try. I’ll steer clear of the comparison to El Puerto until I’ve sampled more of Renzo’s goods.
